John Masters
Masks on! 😷 I used the Humbrol rattle can Dark Green if only to use up the can. It is actually darker and less grey than this... I wasn't thrilled with the tone, so I went over it with a soft hairy brush and some Vallejo Air A24 Camo Green. I like the tone and I like the uneven structure of the painting, as if perhaps the Russians gave a it bit of once-over. Plus, once it get's varnished and FloryWashed, it will develop a patina that is particularly attractive, imho. Before... ...and after. Next up...decals, I think. Then undercarriage. --John
John Masters
One of the many positive aspects of the AZ Spitfire kits, at least their most recent releases, are their comprehensive stencil sets. Painfully thin, easily transferred, and legible if you have a magnifying glass. They react well to MicroSol and, after I apply a matte varnish thus sealing them onto the aircraft, they lose their shine and blend in well. Next up...insignia, both Soviet and personal, undercarriage, prop, pitot...varnish, weathering...Done. --John
John Masters
Snazzy looking Spitfire. Those Soviets made an aircraft look awfully nice. I'll varnish tomorrow and wrap it up in the evening. --John

Yes...I'll attach the landing gear, the prop and the pitot after the weathering has been completed. The radio wire too.
John Masters
I made a small batch of my special 'Leningrad Dust' , i.e. some Sand and a little Grime... A light coating. I'll wipe it off in an hour or so after it dries. Also, I have found that the very fine clay that Flory is made from gives the fuselage a lovely finish. --John
John Masters
The Flory was fine, but I felt some black/brown oil pin wash for the panels lines. The build is finished but I am waiting until tomorrow for pictures in better light. --John
Cookenbacher
That's some excellent finish work John, I like your technique with brush and sprayed greens.
