Sebastien Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Hi folks, I've a problem with my Javelin.upper wing roundels. The protruding bits (sorry for the use of extremely advanced technical terms) just upwind from the vortex generators, the roundel decals and Gunze decal softener aren't exactly friendly to each other: Has anybody encountered this problem? And found a solution? What paint could I use for masking the holes? I have access to Gunze, Humbrol and Tamiya. TIA, Sebastien
pigsty Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 If you mean the three little lumps side by side, they're meant to represent the stall warning vane, which was a small piece of thin metal across the airflow, with a wire guard on either side. My plan is to remove the plastic, add the roundels, then fabricate replacements that are more to scale. Come back in forty years and I might have done it. 1

pigsty Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Sorry, meant to add - there are good pictures of the vane and its guards in the Javelin walk-round.

Admiral Puff Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 A2Zee does a photoetch set (somewhat like the set in the old Dynavector kit) which overcomes this problem very nicely.
Julien Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Is it me or is the printing a bit off on that roundel with a white edge to one side? Might be an idea to ask airfix for a replacement set which are in register. Julien 1
Jennings Heilig Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 I'd remove that decal anyway - it's horribly out of register. You have a little crescent of white peeking out from the upper right side of the blue outer ring, and a corresponding area of the blue with no white under it on the opposite side, which appears darker. I'd write to Airfix for a replacement. That never should have made it through the QC by the decal printer. 2
