  1. Let me know about the book. No worries about Pima - another time, perhaps?
  2. Mike, World Air Power Journal vol. 23 has a 22-page feature article about the F-1. It's at home, so I'll check it later, but these usually have lots of detail shots and a cutaway, as well as a nice fold-out artwork. I'll mail it to you to borrow for the duration.
  3. "It is a large animal in a gross limps..." No wonder I failed at French in school...
  4. Squadron in the US will have them on special for $37.89 starting August 1st.....that works out at about 20 quid. Good value for any US modellers, but I'd estimate the cost of postage to the UK to be at least $25.
  5. Nice! I particularly like the second shot of her taking off.
  6. You should make the Crusader OOB, wheels up and on the stand. Don't worry about detail and accuracy, just do the best you can with the basics - it would make a very impressive desk model.
  7. Cheers, chaps! Bex, the WB-57 is serial number 63-13501, NASA registration N925NA. It's in the restoration area, and I believe is under very long term restoration. The climate is good for a/c to be left outside - that's why the US armed forces have their boneyard across the street - but it is a sad sight nevertheless. Jim - thanks for that info.
  8. Took over 250 photos yesterday; here's a selection of items of interest to an international audience: Mr. McHenry as she is today (well, yesterday - you know what I mean...) Hunter F-58, J-4035 - newly repainted. Gnat XM694 in Red Arrows colours - well, for the colour-blind, she is... Forgot to get the reggie of the Blenheim..... "What colour is the exhaust collector ring on a Bristol Mercury??" One for the Aussies - I think this is one being restored to flying condition to go Down Under - anyone know more? Mohave, for anyone with the Special Hobby kit. I've more if anyone wants them. The B-36 is coming together.... This B-57 isn't..... Reg on this Hurricane is "V6864" - is that its real serial? Oscar Just a few - I didn't have much time and just shot a/c I have some interest in.
  9. You're welcome, guys; I hoped they'd be useful to someone...... Isn't there a new kit of the 'D?
  10. This is the F-105D oon display at Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ. Bit worse for wear, but the detail is still there. Nose gear bay: Ceterline MER. Goodness only knows what the stores are? Main U/C and bay: Detail from the rear end: Hope these are useful for your '105D models!
  11. So the next logical question is: when will someone release a resin set of consisting of crew's bags, changes of clothing, several packets of Corn Flakes, soap and washing powder, boxes of talcum powder, boxes of crisps, several packets of digestive biscuits . . .? How about it, TwoMikes??
  12. Now if Airfix were to do a new mould, I'd welcome it. However, if they should in future decide to continue their cooperation with MPM.....
  13. Cool; that means I don't even need to look at the parts myself to know its fatally flawed and not worth the plastic its moulded in. BTW, probably going to Pima next week - anyone need some detail shots of a '105?
  14. Nice model, Ed! Those were my thoughts exactly - and the diameter of the lens looks to be a bit big. The curve of the nose looks insufficient as well. Additionally, I was wondering about the feasibility of hollowing out the clear resin and putting an MV lens behind the flat clear plate. I wonder if Bill's method wouldn't be a heck of a lot easier.
  15. Thanks Edgar - useful info. Nice model Bill!
  16. Cheers, Bill; your article was the inspiration! Many thanks, Mark - I don't know how I missed those photos at the FRADU website...... That really helps. The F.4 - FGA.9 radome diameters were different? Why? - wasn't the equipment the same? Mike - actually, I'm going to do both! I have the PJ conversion set for the Academy 1/48 - that will have the Harley - and am doing a PJ resin 1/72 as the "standard-nosed" version.
  17. That's very helpful - I think you're referring to this one? http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5956028&nseq=2 Now, I can estimate the diameter I think, but does anyone have a definitive answer on that?
  18. Anyone know what the diameter was on the opening for the Hunter GA.11 Harley light? And was the light housed behind a flat clear plate? The photos I've seen are rather unclear on this. Clear close up photos would be most welcome!
  19. Wot, and pay twice as much for the pleasure of filling in all the rivets?
  20. I've got a build going over at UAMF: http://gregers.7.forumer.com/viewtopic.php...asc&start=0 "Awkward" would be a useful word to use when describing the build! It's a typical limited-run kit - you'll need "modelling skills" to complete it to a reasonable standard. Think Classic Airframes, only in 1/72, and you'll get the idea.
  21. Interesting comments - one likes more modelling, one doesn't! As they are books for modellers, I personally prefer more on kits and models, and I also agree with the comments on the detail photos being too small. My favourite has been the Griffon-Spitfire book - a good balance of modelling and detail photos with a bit of history thrown in. But all the ones I have have been useful.
  22. I have a number of these books and they have all been very useful. What is it that you lot find most/least useful about these books? What woul dyou like to see and what don't you like about them?
  23. Strewth, the bloody things have mis-shapen faces, eyes and ears much too large and one of them has been moulded with 5 toes on its front paws! Geez, is this the best that can be done with modern moulding techniques?
