  1. Hi everyone, Here's my last build : REVELL's (ex-MPM) Douglas P 70 "Nighthawk". Not an easy kit, believe me ! But it's finaly dne and I'm happy with it . Here is the completed model : 1) the interiors are very well detailed, I added a photoetched harness from EDUARD (US seat belts WW2), but a lot of adjustments will be necessary to get a proper fit in the fuselage halves. 2) Follow exactly the instruction sheet during the main landing gear assembly ! Then the engine nacelles and their front parts will be glued and sanded before gluing them to the wings (if not, you will have some bad surprises ! 3) The engine cowlings do not fit correctly to the wings leading edges. 4) The rear canopy doesn't fit very well to the fuselage. I found a picture of the real plane on internet and shows different shades of grey, dark grey, gloss and matt black, so I tried to have the best rendition as possible. Apparently, this plane belonged to a conversion (or test ?) unit based in Orlando, Florida and then later, this unit moved to California... I airbrushed my model with REVELL paints. I replaced the stars (the white was offset) by MICROSCALE stars of the same dimensions. Some weathering was added and voilà ! A P 70 on the shelves ! Hope you like it ! Critics and comments welcome, Pierre.
  2. Thank you very much gentlemen for your nice comments.
  3. Very interesting subject !
  4. Hello everyone ! I "m finally done with this huge beast and I need to find room on the shelves ! An unique rendition of this superb flying boat by Hasegawa, unreleased by no other brand since the early 70's. Not a bad kit at all even if one can meet some fitting problems here and there (wings+fuselage for instance). The decals sheet provides markings for two VP 48 aircraft with a sharkmouth. Here are some pictures : Hasegawa suggests to use an "engine grey" for the version that I chose but I found the color to be too dark so I followed the advice of a fellow modeler who suggested me to use Humbrol 125 extra dark sea grey, a lighter grey with a blueish shade. I've used Revell's gloss white for the top side. Decals went OK after a coat of gloss varnish but I replaced the stars by smaller ones found in the spare box. Critics and comments welcome as always, have a nice week end. Pierre.
  5. Absolutely outstanding ! It looks so real !!
  6. Hi everybody; Here's my last one : Italeri (formerly AMT/ERTL) Northrop YB 49 Flying wing. Sanding the whole thing took me more time tnhan putting it togetner ! I sprayed my model with Tamiya Bare metal silver . After a coat of clear varnish, the decals were placed at their proper location . I darkened the area between the tails and painted an anti-glare area just in front of the pilot's station. The pictures I found on Internet show that USAF doesn't appear anywhere on or under the wings and the black stripes must be corrected (the square zone ) to match with the real YB 49 Now I need to find room on the shelves... Critics and comments welcome, A bientôt, Pierre
  7. Your house must be very big ...
  8. The Italeri kit , first released, was a K model (couter invader) . Revell's is the same but without some parts (turret under the fuselage). I plan to make a Italeri kit with clear nose in USN markings (yellow overall with red stripes on the wings.)
  9. Hi all, My B 26 Invader is now completed. For those who know the kit, I will not repeat the good and bad sides of it. So far, it is a very well detailed Invader with a good rendition of the cockpit, a complete bomb bay, etc. My choice went to the plane flown by Tony Curto during the Korean conflict in 1951. Here it is : I did my model OOB, I just added the seat belts and the wing tips lights, that's all . Just before the photo session, I discovered that a tiny bit of plastic ended between the windshield and the dashboard. Since it was impossible to take the canopy away without risking to have definitive damages, I decided to modify an AIRES figurine, scratchbuild a ladder and put between his hand and the windshield a shaped bit of play doh to figure the cloth. Here are a few more pics, the challenge was to airbrush the kit with different tones of black and off-black in order to match the few pictures of Invaders in Koprea I found on the web. The Jeep is from ACADEMY and the other guy watching is a metal figure( I don't remember the origin). Critics and comments welcome, Pierre.
  10. Thank you gentlemen for your comments and for Jean about the decals, they were in the box. Heller has dramaticly improved the quality of their decals.
  11. Fantastic job you did on this one !! AVIS has planned to make the LA 200 B with it's 3 air intakes . The uglier they are, The more I want them !!
