ChocksAway Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 (edited) From today's show at Duxford, 16 Spitfires in formation as tribute to BoB 70th ... I'll add some more photos of the show in next few days. A photo compilation of the Hurricanes, Spitfire and Lancaster that participated in the show... Edited September 6, 2010 by ChocksAway
HP42 Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 Not long got home from Duxford today, what a splendid day out it was. The 16 Spit formation was quite something as was the four Hurricane formation, more of each than I think I've ever seen before. The attendance was good from what I saw, I gather they closed gates in the end as the car parks were all filled. Couldn't even get a seat in the FOD enclosure! I stayed for a good hour and a half or so afterwards to avoid the crush in the carparks. ....not trying to hijack the thread but can anyone answer this? Every time I go to Duxford I always see a guy dressed as a German Afrika Korps general. My simply question is......'why'? Here's a piccy I found on the net. http://www.flickr.com/photos/calotype46/47...75979/lightbox/
stevehnz Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Wow, that is a sight to give you goose bumps, what happened to the finger 4 formation , but maybe that wouldn't have been right for BoB? Steve
gunpowder17 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) It was a great day and the take off of the 16 Spitfires was superb , then the display after the flypast. There was Spitfires comming from every direction. Edited September 5, 2010 by gunpowder17
Terrain Safe Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Was there both days working and the sound of the spitfires at the end of Sundays show was awesome especially. Nipped away early to d#beat the traffic and walking back to the car between 2 hangars was amazing. having the sound reverberate around me but not see any aircraft really made me think of 1940. Felt a bit emotional as well. Truly a great moment for me and worth the admission on it's own. Doesn't get any better than that. Plus I spent too much money on plastic and books so I had a great weekend.....
