silverburn Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Here we go...build there is here. I should really put this in the heli GB, but hey ho. Pretty tricky build this...first helicopter too, and what a job. Lots of fiddly parts, fiddly masking, decalling the lot. The worst part was getting lacquer on the INSIDE of the glass...very annoying. Anyway...to the pics!
Guest snipersmudge Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 great chopper really like the colours very smart
Stéphane Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hello there, Really nice job on that helo, the scheme is really striking and the EC 145 really is a nice machine. Makes getting mine out of the stash, now ... Cheers Stef (#6)
Modelling Mushi Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Sharp piece of work that sir, worth the fiddling
daz greenwood Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Nice! I've never built a Whirlybird, I guess after seeing this one I will have to have a go!
silverburn Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Thanks guys! For those considering Revells EC 135/145, there's a couple of things to heed: - The glass is a nightmare. It needs to be fitted before painting, making the black window surround a complete pig to do. Somehow, you will want to do the surrounded before assembly, *and* be prepared to mask it off. There are decals in the box for it, but I still don't envy you - The decals *will* shrink on the underbelly and the ID on the tailboom. The underside one can be filled in with some normal paint, but the tail boom one...hmmm. - The REGA edition in the box is actually out of date. Google some pics and you'll see. For example - there is no rear "cupboard", which I'm sure the talented amongst you can fabricate. Also, the colours on the rotors has changed, and there no search light fitted. - There is actually enough part in the box to do the police version instead btw...if you're so inclined. No Police decals though.
Deon Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Seriously tidy chopper, Im gonna try this in 1.72, thanks for the inspiration
