I am making the DH Devon in the RAF colours of white and grey with the blue cheat line, could someone please tell me what colour is the grey, as I shall be using Acrylic colours for this, I also would like to know what style of text I should use on the ROYAL AIRFORCE.........Cheers Kev

I would have said the colour would be the same as an RAF VC10 C1 so if anyone's got the kit they may be able to help you on that...... titling not sure but there is a site on the web that gives you the fonts, at work at mo but Mark Marples has the linky

Light Aircraft Grey. At least that's what I painted my Pembroke.

LIght Aircraft Grey would be the correct colour from the late 60s/early 70s onward (It replaced High Speed Silver). The Royal Air Force depends on which aircraft you are modelling. It 'should' be in standard Royal Air Force style, but there were some variations (Mainly due to the area between the windows and top of the fuselage being narrower than the standard style allowed) - this is why on later aircraft, the lettering was so small!

If it's one of the 207 Squadron aircraft from the 80s, then it was 4 inches high

I'd go with Light Aircraft Grey too, I'm not aware of any "special" colour for transport aircraft.

The only other scheme I can think of for the Devon was the Raspberry Ripple RAE aircraft? Wasn`t there a silver and white one in Vietnam during the 1960`s used by the British Air Attache along with a Beaver?

50s/60s there were quite a few different schemes, The RAE one being blue with a white top and yellow cheatline. Most were white/silver with a blue stripe, but there were exceptions and different coloured stripes as well. They also carried differing titling, for example for the station flights.

Thanks for all your help, light aircraft grey it is then, I have looked at the Hannants web site, these decals are perfect for what I need but with Hannants you need to spend more to have them delivered.
