Can any Lightning Experten out there advise which set is best for a conversion of the Airfix 1/48 kit?

I have the Aeroclub pack already but have seen the CMK version available from Hannants (or on E-Bay if you want to pay more - :mental: go figure) and also hear that Neomega do a cockpit interior too

So which way to go?

Thanks

I may be wrong John but I have a horrible feeling that the all use the Aeroclub fuselage, which is no longer available and cannot be in the future.

I agree with Tony. I have all three sets and Aeroclubs was first. The other fuselage parts match Johns exactly, right down to the panel lines. So that being said, I recommend the original if you can get it. Cheers

Thanks Mike and Tony

I was lucky enough to get a full Aeroclub conversion set a while back and I have the donor kit too all waiting. I was wondering if the cockpit contents of the Aeroclub version could be improved on.

Confess I had not realised that you needed the Aeroclub forward fuselage for the other 2 sets though ! That could get seriously expensive !

thanks again

John,

The CMK conversion includes a resin forward fuselage not the Aeroclub IM one.

The NeOmega coversion pairs their resin cockpit with the Aeroclub forward fuselage. I can recommend the Aeroclub fuselage married to the beautifully detailed NeOmega cockpit which I used for my stalled T.4 conversion here. The NeOmega cockpit is more representative of a T.5 than a T.4 however.

HTH,

Ian

Hi John

This is my Airfix T.4 built using the NeOmega/Aeroclub set. I agree with all Ian says about it, unfortunately you can't see much with the lid down, but it really is a cracker.

John - nice work. I had heard that the Neomega set was very good and its nice to hear you confirm that. I was thinking about going down the same lines as yourself but the thought of adding the price of the Neomega set - if you can get one - to what I have shelled out already fro the donor kit and the aeroclub set did make me think twice but what the ... you only live once !

Nice markings. Where did you get the decals?

Ian - ditto the comments on your thoughts on the Neomega set, much appreciated as was the link

Thanks to all you guys who responded for the input. All very helpful as always on BM !!

regards

John

Now to find a Neomega set for sale !!

Your right, that really is a cracker, without looking in the cockpit.

I'd like one of these as well, I think the Aeroclub mould broke? so I'm considering buying the CMK version if it the only option left.

Built the Aeroclub conversion some years ago, and am currently building a CMK version. Not yet seen the Neomega set, though I do have an Aeroclub set in the stash to use with one, if and when...

As for the CMK set, there are some pic's on here somewhere, probably in the "In Progress" section. The resin on my example was warped - particularly that on the fuselage hump - but I mended that with milliput and a lot of sanding!! The detail on the CMK set is rather good though and contains the nose halves and a nice decal sheet! Apart from the warping - I'd recommend it highly!!

I have the CMK set and second Bill's opinion whole heartedly.

Hi John found the link to my (somewhat stalled) build - should give you an idea on the CMk set...
