tinleeds Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I know, there a lot of Corsairs on this forum. Try to do this OOB just with little add. This is my second model in 1/48 scale. (first) Saw much everyones useful, everything would be desirable to try, but we will begin gradually. Has tried to use a foil for a basis. I will tint tips and we will look that will turn out.
tinleeds Posted October 31, 2010 Author Posted October 31, 2010 (edited) Thats seat is done Then i try to do side maps bag from bits of masking tape.. no bad.. Cockpit is done. Looks good enough for me Edited October 31, 2010 by tinleeds
tinleeds Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Some work did this weekend. Don't know.. this model going to slow...
Nobby Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 As a Corsair lover i have to say this looks sweet so far!
tinleeds Posted November 21, 2010 Author Posted November 21, 2010 Just did preshading and alluminium first coat. Never did preshading befour.. And alluminium first coat as well. Wish to try solt chipping..
billybookcase Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 If it turns out as good as the cockpit that will be one fine model.
tinleeds Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 So.. salt chipping ready.. never did befour... And first color coat on the top.
tinleeds Posted November 22, 2010 Author Posted November 22, 2010 It's me again Painted top and bottom. Now removed salt and looked at it. I thoued well be worse, but i think it's no bad for first time. Next time need to use less salt or try mask fluid with small sponge. It is possible to consider small divorces of salt as traces of sea salt some where near Guadalcanal in July 1943
billybookcase Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 It's looking like the dogs b******s to me. (I am presuming that English is not your first language, so just in case you are not sure what the dogs b******** means.... I am VERY impressed.) BB
Doctor Strop Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 Very nice build. Chipping looks great!
Kahunaminor Posted November 22, 2010 Posted November 22, 2010 (edited) Nice work! I have sent a PM with some information for you on the Corsair. Regards, Kent in Oz Edited November 22, 2010 by Kahunaminor

the MDman Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Nice to see salt chipping in progress, I've have never done that myself either.
tinleeds Posted November 24, 2010 Author Posted November 24, 2010 (edited) Is only problem i found, my paint is acrilic, means water based. It's do no good effect. Salt was a little dissolved and on a surface there were small divorces. I think that with an enamel paint such won't be. We can present that it is effect from real sea salt, but what about standart kamufliage where aircraft was based faraway from the sea? Edited November 24, 2010 by tinleeds
shark 64 Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 Please peel off the salt....I cant wait to see the results... Cockpit work is flawless..... Oliver
tinleeds Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 The problem is... salt is already off..
Killingholme Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 I quite like the effect you've got with the slightly dissolved salt- good for a naval plane! Will
tinleeds Posted November 25, 2010 Author Posted November 25, 2010 Only it also keeps me from repainting. I force itself to believe that it is deterioration of a paint from sea salty winds in the hot summer 1943 near Guadalcanal.
tinleeds Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 So.. Salt chipping good enough but think twice before use. Other problem has arisen with decals. Salt has appeared on a decal surface when i used polish nail remover for "welding" decals. Strangely enough, DecalSoft application has helped.
shark 64 Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Thats good to know about decals and salt. Have you tried painting the star. so you can do the salt effect on that too? OLiver
tinleeds Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 I think that I will do chipping effect by a dry-brush.
Jens Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Looking good, but you do know you have chipped some of the fabric areas, right? Jens
