Artie Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I've started building this beauty this evening, and came to a reasonable amount of doubts... First things first....I asume the cockpit should be dark black grey, but what about the seat and seat belts???? Should the seat be painted aluminium or left black as well..? And the seat belts? Should them be blue or tan colour? And finally, I there any picture showing any underwing stores...???? I mut admit I don't like planes with things hanging from the wings, but must be a nice addition...maybe an auxiliary fuel tank.... I really like the looks of this early jet plane....looks like the cross between a P80 and a Spitfire to me.... TIA and best regards from the HORNY AS HELL Canary Islands....

The Attacker was fitted with either a Mk.1A or Mk.2A seat. In general the colours of the fittings on both are the same as most other similar seats, e.g. seat itself - black (anodised), parachute harness and backpad - tan, seat harness - blue. See here for a very similar Mk.2H seat but be aware that this is a later Mk.2H with hard PSP and sheepskin cushion - the Attacker seat would have had a soft yellow canvas PSP and, most likely, a dark brown leather seat cushion. The entire interior of the Attacker cockpit was painted matt black. Hope that helps.
Paul Bradley Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 The Attacker could carry up to 8 60lb rockets, or 2 1,000lb bombs, though I haven't seen any photos showing this. The best I found was one with 4 empty rocket rails, two on each side between the outer cannon and the wingtip fold. Ad Hoc Publications has a new book out about the Attacker, which I think will be the most comprehensive history of the type yet released. These are very good books and well worth the money. http://www.adhocpublications.com/attacker.htm
Edgar Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 The RAF Museum has G.A. drawings of a proposal to put the Attacker on floats; how's that for a Whif? Edgar

Leigh Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Good luck, you'll need it, here's my challenge with said kit.
Ben Brown Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) Nice job on your Attacker, Leigh! I've seen reviews saying that it's CA's best kit, but I think their Sea Hawk is far better. I had a ball building that one. Like any limited-run kit, you have to dive into a CA kit with the mindset that you'll have to beat it into submission. Cheers! Ben Edited August 10, 2008 by Ben Brown
