  1. Fantastic! Conveys the look of the Tornado far more than that hobbyboss thing.
  2. Xtracrylix brush well I have found, xtracolor on the other hand doesn't seem to at all. It might be to do with the enamel itself being really quite thin, making brushing very hard to do without leaving noticeable strokes. Humbrol I find is still the best for brushing though cheers
  3. Can I ask your reason for thinking this? To be clear I am mainly talking about avionic/technological performance, not kinematic/physical (We have the Typhoon for that)
  4. JSF/F-35 is very expensive, it will be delayed but the multirole performance the actual platform will deliver will be truely exceptional. The Rafale, whilst a brilliant fighter, simply cannot match the extra 20 years of developement that has gone into the F-35. We don't need its capability it right now, but in 10/20 years which China and Russia producing ever more capable fighters it may prove useful.
  5. Studies have been conducted but the cost and complexitiy put it firmly as a worst senario situation. Rafale was designed outright to have naval capabilities, the UK in all honesty could purchase Rafale F3's but this seems very unlikely. lol And the Rafale, but to even a greater extent!
  6. Excellent build, awesome looking jet! Sure is alot of work to rescribe a whole kit but its worth it in the end. Funnily enough I'm just about start the heller kit to build a IVA, circa 1975, are there any build tricks/tips you could highlight with your build experience, the kit itself looks quite nice in the box. Once again a lovely, rare build, cheers, Will.
  7. When used correctly it was/is a superb BVR platform, and it showed this in countless exersises/situations. As soon as AMRAAM was wired in it really was a force to be dealt with, especially when going in as a 3 ship with AWACS. WVR was where it get's a tad hairy, the critical thing was if it ever got to that stage, the crew had massively cocked up in the first place. If it had ever come to this though, dropping the tanks allowing 7g's to be pulled with two crew in the cockpit (2 pairs of eyes), 35000lb's of thrust, 2 very high lift wings and being the fasted aircraft on the deck meant it wasn't ill equipped. The usual was to run like hell though, nothing could catch it lower than 2000ft. Basically a specialised plane that adapted very well to changing demands, as with the IDS variants. cheers
  8. Lol, check out the key publishing forums for more info on that!
  9. Totally agree! It puzzles me how on earth they managed to screw it up with so much data avaliable, anyways this isn't a trump bash thread so I'll pipe down
  10. I believe so, though I'm not sure how far they are through the design stage. Hopefully they will have a proper go at it. That is a way to go but I reckon I'll wait to see what academy brings. If it is anything like their new F-16/18 series we are in for a treat!
  11. I was adding up the cost of a "decent" 1/72 F.1a the other day and it's not too far off Eduard's price unforetunatley; £21 for the base kit (That has many errors), £9 for Aires corrected exhausts which to me is a must, ~£7 for Xtradecals (Firebirds display scheme), £3.50 for Quickboost air intake, (adding a resin cockpit would knock it £50+) This all adds up to ~ £46. Hannants lists the eduard kit at £56 which isn't that reasonable but it highlights what a complete joke trumpeter have got going with their, 1/72, kit! Its simply taking the p**s. If you really want a shock though, check out trumpeter's new Su-24 price....
  12. Definitley watching this! The M3 might soon be making its way into my stash
