Nev Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 So, I wanted to do something quick n easy as I wrestle with an Amodel An-32 and contemplate another major project. Obligatory box photo I intend to build the German option at the bottom - if anyone has any pics of this bird to share I would be most grateful, not been able to find any myself. Don't forget the nose-weight! I nearly did, and it was only a chance encounter with a review in SAMI whilst looking for something else that reminded me. Really haven't bothered with the cockpit at all - its all black and nowt will be seen once its closed up. Started it on Sunday evening, just touching up a few spots with PSR now - need to get outside and spray the Halfords Primer and then Aluminium before the snow arrives on Sunday!

AnonymousFO98 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Daz and Nev don't know how far you have got with the build i left off the exhausts to make painting easier, but when i came to put them on there was a distinct possibility that they could end up rattling around inside the fuselage managed to get them in place with a lot of care- (used no nails which worked a treat!) it maybe worth considering putting the exhausts in before closing the fuselage - or maybe test fitting and fixing a piece of plastic card or something to help place the exhausts without them going too far in! . if you see what i mean
Nev Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 (edited) Alas, I don't think my caviar nose weight was sufficient to do the job - she's still a tail sitter (hence the blu-tac ) I also made a bit of a dogs dinner of the canopies Was **very** impressed with the Trumpeter decals, extremely thin, and went on gorgeous with a bit of Klear/Future. Apart from the stencils that is, not sure why there would be a stencil on the engine saying "The Spassers will be prosecuted" but there you go Still, my first finished model of 2009 - wanted to get one done early doors to set me up for the rest of the year. AnonymousFO98 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Nice one Nev packed in as much weight in as i could! the good thing about the AS variants is that you can always drop the radome for her to sit on not everyones' cuppa but i am quite fond of the old bird and i find it beautiful will hopefully finish mine tomorrow bar a few touches
daz greenwood Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I think the Gannet is a beautiful A/C too. I'll be doing some more to mine tomorrow.
