cjhm Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 My model will be of the DaKP 'Dampf angetriebene Kanone Plattform' (steam powered gun platform) VII, commonly called the Steam Tiger (Must work on this back story a little more me thinks) _________________________________ Plan is to build this one of these quick assembly Tigers, add some pipes and other subtle details to produce the steam powered variant finished in brass\bronze\copper Watch this space .....
Deon Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 (edited) looks like a fun conversion - good luck Edited February 7, 2012 by Deon
Iain Ogilvie Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 This sounds like fun - whole new meaning to a tank 'making smoke'! Iain
Jon Kunac-Tabinor Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Will you be adding the "Dampfsperre" steam baffles to your land cruiser sir?. I believe that you would be, as they were certainly evident on the electrodaguerres of the only 2 of these noble land leviathans that were captured after the battle? Jonners
cjhm Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Will you be adding the "Dampfsperre" steam baffles to your land cruiser sir?. Of course, and the "Lochkarte" (punched card) controlled aiming mechanism, clearly a copy of the Babbage-Lovelace device used on British Behemoths
cjhm Posted February 14, 2012 Author Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Started work, "Dampf-Trichter" funnels added to the rear with weaponry and other updates in progress, the plastic card additions behind the turret (work in progress) are to represent the "Kohle-Eimer" coal basket which provided fuel to the firebox via an ingenious mechanism to allow for turret rotation Edited February 14, 2012 by cjhm
cjhm Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 Think that's all of assembly, just need to clean up tracks a bit (they are only push fit at the moment) and then painting can start after a good wash to clear up swarf and grease from my grubby fingers
cjhm Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Coming along, 2 coats of matt black primer then 2 coats of Citadel Dwarf Bronze with flow improver (needs a third), both by brush
rkennerley Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 i am really liking the all bronze look and have you tried to dry brush the paint on i fine you get better coverage on large areas if you are using a hairy stick
Iain Ogilvie Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Bronze looks great - really starting to look *very* different!! Iain
Deacon Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 This looks fun and great at the same time. Deacon
cjhm Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 i am really liking the all bronze look and have you tried to dry brush the paint on i fine you get better coverage onlarge areas if you are using a hairy stick Thanks for that, gave it a go and it does cover better like that; think I was slopping on too much .... More pics soon, nearly done
cjhm Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Nearly there Thought I better post up the reference shots I used, these were of course taken from 'Dampf War Machines der Weltmächte 1937-1946' (Steam War Machines of World Powers 1937-1946), the authoritative work on these behemoths
Iain Ogilvie Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 Aha - those all important references - looks like you're project is bang on accuracy wise! Iain
cjhm Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) All done, model railway coal as finishing touch to bunker More pics in gallery Edited March 8, 2012 by cjhm
rkennerley Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 great job mate i really like the coal hopper i am all most tempted to bust out a tank and have a go at making one(might do if time permits)
Bertie McBoatface Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Very good. I like the way you have modelled it at the instant of destruction by that 500 pounder!
