Cheshiretaurus Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Hi, as the title suggests Im looking for any photos of the underside windows of a Brewster Buffalo. Does anyone have anything in their collections? Cheers Mark
tempestfan Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Scale Models February 1973 (?), the one with the Arthur Bentley Tempest feature - I am pretty sure this issue has a review of the Airfix kit, and the pics include one of the window. @Richard Humm has an index, or possibly/probaby at Aeroflight. 1
Mark Harmsworth Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Seen this? https://boxartden.com/reference/gallery/index.php/Aircraft-Profiles/USA/WWII/Brewster-Buffalo 2
jimmaas Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 Yes, but I'll have to scan later and send to you, can't upload pictures from my computer. The ventral window (in the USN Erection & Maintenance Manual, the 'bomb-aiming window') is on all versions except the F2A-3 (where an extra fuel tank blocked the view). The first variant. the F2A-1/Model 239, had the window but the carbon monoxide vents were located on the aft fuselage; for all subsequent variants, the vents were at the rear of the ventral window. In Finnish service there was progressive plating over as spare parts were no readily available. 1
