Paul E
They are a good looking vessel - you've done it proud. Thank you, I also think they are quite attractive ships.
Paul E
It has been a while since I last posted an update and a lot has happened in the intervening period. Most notably I had a minor victory in the never ending battle with the carpet monster when purely by chance I discovered the microscopic anchor that had tweezer pinged at the end of my last posting. Onto the pictures: The fitting of the PE detail and railings to the hull. And then fitting to the base. I have also started on super detailing by adding some extra aerials to the bridge roof: And a picture of how HMAS Launceston looks prior to touch up. Next on the list of things to do is fitting of the masts. Thanks for looking.

Paul E
Thank you for the comments guys, I endeavour to please. More pictures of progress; the masts are now fitted and rigged. This was achieved without any major dramas, which is an improvement on my usual standards. and with the RAN White Ensign flying: Just the boats to do and that’s it for this dainty little model. Have a good weekend and thanks for looking in.

Forlornhope
She has finished up nicely Paul. Well done. I still haven't added my RHIBs yet, adding all the seats scares the hell out of me Cheers Callum
Paul E
Thanks for the comments guys, they are very much appreciated. She has finished up nicely Paul. Well done. I still haven't added my RHIBs yet, adding all the seats scares the hell out of me Cheers Callum I wouldn't worry too much about the RHIBs Callum they actually fiited together a lot easier than I anticipated. However I did come across an error in the kit PE when building them. I shall explain that in my next post.
Paul E
This weekend’s work consisted of detailing the boats and applying finishing touches. The boats turned out a lot easier than I expected. However it is a task that requires a magnifier and some fine tweezers. First up was painting the boats. I wasn’t particularly scientific with regards to colours and used Taimya XF-80 and XF-53 to achieve an effect that contrasts against the Storm Grey. The PE detail parts were all sprayed black. and fitted to the boat hulls, initially using watered down PVA white glue to tack them into position and then using thin penetrating CA glue to permanently fix them in place. I applied the seats last using the same method. Fitting the seats revealed a deficiency in the PE provided with the kit. Item 40 on the PE forms the front seat on each row as shown in the kit instructions. Unfortunately only two items are provided on the PE when four are required. Given the sizes of the items in question it is not so noticeable that they are not fitted: After fitting the boats and the life raft canisters the model is complete: To summarise this is a very nice kit for its quality and I have enjoyed building it despite its small size and it makes an attractive addition to my collection. I suspect that if there was a 1:350 scale model kit of an Armidale it would be very popular. And finally a phot of the model with a pound coin for scale. Until the next project....

moaning dolphin
Excellent little project and it turned out very nice in the end. Some of that PE is truly , I reckon I have about 3 or 4 years to build my stash of 1:700 as my sausage fingers and jelly eyes are struggling to cope with this scale. Although I am tempted just to convert my 700's into 350's to save my poorly eyes but I don't think SWMBO will go for that! Great work Bob
Paul E
Thanks guy's, I am quite pleased with how this came out in the end as I was quite concerned with the size and the delicacy of the PE. I will try and get some pictures posted in the Ready for Inspection this weekend.
