Dear all, Greetings from Italy. Finally, after two years of forced stop I'm back to modelling. A new start in a new home, with much more space to build and show my airplanes (with wife blessing of course). This kit is the very nice Tamiya P-47 M, 63rd FS, 65th FG, 8th AF, England 1945 built practically OOB just with some little extra scratchbuilt details on the engine and in the cockpit. To paint it I used Tamya primer, Tamiya acrylics (with airbrush) and Tamiya spray finishing just with a slight homemade oil wash for weathering. Not 100% perfect but I would sa

Hello! This is my first finished project this year, the very well known and praised Tamiya P-47 1/48 kit. Nothing to add, really, a superb kit. Only some small stencils did not behave well and…disintegrated. C’est la vie! Since these especific birds didn’t operate for too long, war ending in Europe was months away, I kept the weathering at a minimum, just some dirt from the airfields, but not too many scratches and chipping… Canopy masks from Eduard, guns from Model Masters and seat belts from scratch. Hope you enjoy! Cheers

I don't like that plane - too big and bulky for my taste, but I've noticed that huge white-red checkerboard painted on engine cover and did a little bit of research. Looks like pilot might be my very distant family. I'm not sure about that, but it's great reason to buy a new model, right? :). Even my wife approved that ;). It's my first Tamiya kit after many, many years and I immediately fall in love with that company again. Finishing Bf109G-6 atm and will buy A6M3 soon. It's my second attempt with big, serious aircraft models (but I've painted a lot of smaller things last few years, so it's n

Always wanted to make a P-47 (or three) so why not. I still have some space on my workbench which needs to be filled This will be my first silver paint job - fortunately mostly on the under surface. I think Tamiya's 1/48 P-47M with the markings of USAAF 61st Fighter Squadron 56th Fighter Group 8th Air Force flown by Captain Witold Lanowski from Boxted in 1945 looks smashing. This is the only picture I found of his mount. Are there any other pictures around? The Tamiya kit should be a straight forward build. I will add some resin and PE, but unfortunately the stuff hasn't arrived

I am currently building Tamiya's 1/48 P-47M with the markings of USAAF 61st Fighter Squadron 56th Fighter Group 8th Air Force flown by Captain Witold Lanowski from Boxted in 1945. I am no P-47 expert, but I learned a lot since I started this build. But I still have some questions I am kind of stuck. 1. Tamiya has an oxygen house in the P-47D cockpit representation, but not in the P-47M Cockpit. Should there be one or was the oxygen house part of the pilot's gear like with the Hurricane? 2. What gunsight was used in the P-47M? was it the K-14 Gunsight? I came across this cockpit picture
