  1. Thanks guys! A nice quick (ish!) build that went together well, although the USAF decals on the wings were supplied as separate letters, which bemused me!!
  2. Thanks mate. She certainly was an awesome and ambitious machine! The XB-70 in the R&D Hanger at Dayton is a bit like the B-52 in the American Air Museum at Duxford - dominant!
  3. Thanks for taking the time to comment, chaps. I'm pleased you like her.
  4. Thanks for all the really kind words, guys. The Valkyrie certainly is a beautiful aeroplane, but to my eye, not as beautiful as Concorde! (Coincidentally, my wife did think it was Concorde, as I was building it!)
  5. Hi I had planned for this to be a weekend build whilst my wife was watching the Wimbledon Finals. The construction was pretty much concluded during the very short Ladies Finals, and the painting was completed during the Mens, but I then got distracted by three days at RIAT... I finished her off yesterday and I am quite pleased with the result. Having looked at the pictures however, I think that I need to deal with the pitot probe, which is rather small (even with my glasses on. The build thread is here. And for scale, here are a couple of pictures with my Hasegawa 1/200 C-47 Skytrain! Thanks for looking.
  6. Here's a quick picture of the finished model. I will start a RFI thread later today. Thanks for looking
  7. You're a very brave (and skilful) man! I will will follow your progress with interest.
  8. My quick Wimbledon build took rather longer than expected, due to RIAT and work. I took yesterday off work and finished her! Pictures to follow later today.
  9. Thanks Parabat. Perhaps the Typhoon will be given the Xtradecal treatment?
  10. Thanks mate. I enjoyed the Fitters as well. Unfortunately, I didn't clock the Estonian pilot's reaction! Thanks Radleigh. I grabbed shots of the Scorpion and the other statics on the Friday and late on Saturday just before the airfield closed, as like you, I find a prime position for the flying display and don't move (or drink!) Thanks Bill. I hope someone orders the Scorpion to reward the risk.
  11. Sensational workmanship! Looks great with its big brother!
  12. My final set of pictures from RIAT 2014: Thanks for looking.
  13. Thanks Latinbear. In my opinion, it was a great show. I accept that it might not have had the variety of types that we would have enjoyed at a Cold War era show, but it is as good as it gets in these austere times. The show was a sell-out on Saturday, so they must be getting something right! I will try to post some shots of some of the static aircraft tomorrow.
  14. Great shots Radleigh. You obviously have quite a zoom to capture that range of images from one position! At one point on Sunday morning, I had my waterproofs on and had covered my cameras bag with its built in kagoule! I damaged a lens in the past due to water ingress, so kept my camera tucked away despite the chance of dramatic vapour shots.
  15. Airfix are usually excellent in sending out missing parts, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. The clear parts in my kit were individually bagged within the bag containing the sprues.
  16. I picked mine up for £12 from Antics at RIAT and hadn't intended to open it until I build it. However, I thought I had better check for the clear parts and can report that they are present and correct (what a beautiful looking kit as well.)
  17. Great pictures Radleigh. I look forward to seeing your next batch. The Fitters were great and I just don't understand why there are so many negative comments on the forum about RIAT. The show is as good as it gets in these austere times.
  18. Hi Giorgio. I might be able to help you there! I tried to PM you, but was advised you couldn't receive new messages, so I'll post it here. I do have the 1/72 Airfix 03021 S.A.330 Puma kit that I'm not likely to build. Let me know if you're interested. Thanks Radeigh. The Fitters were awesome, weren't they? I love those two shots as well. How cool, to pop your 'chute whilst airborne! I know they did that when landing the Jags on the short runway at Cosford, but it's the first time I've seen it.
  19. Thanks Andrew. You're not wrong! Thanks Houston, I always appreciate your comments. Thanks mate. I'm pleased you like them. Thanks Giorgio. It was a great show, supported very well by the Italian Air Force. A rolling and looping C-27J? You'd better believe it!! The Fitters were a real highlight for me, as I have never seen the type before, As for the Puma, 230 Squadron at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire have painted the upgraded HC2 in this scheme to commemorate their 95th anniversary. It was painted black and Far East Asia Command roundel and markings applied, similar to a Shorts Sunderland named ‘Black Peter’ from WW2.
  20. Beautiful! Takes me back to BAF at Southend Airport in my youth.....
  21. Thanks guys. I would have loved to have had a close-up with a Fitter! I agree, the Transall certainly wasn't "haute couture"!
  22. Hi Here are some of my favourites from Sunday's show. I don't find Picasa as easy and quick to link to as Photobucket. Anyway, back to RIAT - in my opinion, this was a really great show with plenty of interesting types in the flying and static displays. Where else could you see a Japanese Air Self Defence Force KC-767J and a pair of Polish Su-22 "Fitters" in one day (to mention just two types)? To get a different perspective, I spent Sunday on the threshold of Runway 27. The weather was "interesting" on Sunday, with some quite heavy showers in the morning, giving way to sunny intervals in the afternoon. Thanks for looking.
  23. Some truly stunning shots with some very creative cropping - well done.
  24. Thanks for taking the time to comment guys. The Picasa images seen a lot "softer" compared to the ones on Photobucket. I guess that the Picasa software compresses the images more with a commensurate loss of image quality. I will upload some shots from Sunday this afternoon. Thanks again.
