  1. Thanks mate, thats exactly the post I came across recently, when composing my post but couldn't find it, and was going to edit it in, but thats it, will go buy it now in fact before I change my mind and report back once arrived and fitted, thanks 👍 Once this is fitted and a new Virpil CM3 joystick base with clutch damping and then of course soon to be released MS 2020 Helicopter modelling, will be in seventh heaven, cheers 👍 nyogel 767A too.
  2. Great titles back in the day, remember them well 👍
  3. Yes, I had that one too, all the early DOS Microprose sims actually I think that early Microprose B-17 sim did have time compression keys? long time ago but do remember buying it on day one and feeling very excited, LOL of far we have come from those early DOS days, good memory's though. Another B-17 sim with lots of potential i bought later was B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th, this was quite buggy and had the intention of multiplayer to be tacked on on ... but I dont think it ever happened? Quite sure original DOS Microprose B-17 did have time compression, perhaps not at first but with a patch? Spent many hours on it and finished missions I seem to remember, LOL
  4. They announced a come back with a B-17 sim a while back but all went quite, but it looks like its back on again, a B-17 sim, two of them actually, one with VR and multiplayer and one without, perhaps a more strategic serious crew management bombing sim and a fun multiplay VR one? Not sure if anyone remembers the old Microprose DOS sims, but they were good, great fun and got increasingly more realistic before the company folded, its good to see them back and I for one am happy to see whatever they produce B-17 wise for todays simmer, VR too, thats got to please many Both are on Steam wishlist now, put my name down for both of them, nothing solid yet, but early screenshots look good. https://www.microprose.com/
  5. Quite soon I hope, from Virpil and third party for my Virpil Helicopter side collective controller, have the Virpil VPC Rotor TCS Plus Base with throttle and VPC SharKa-50 Collective Grip ... considered the interchangeable VPC Hawk-60 Collective Grip too, but all I really need is one collective Grip, I do not look at it when flying, one grip needs to suite multiple helicopters so that was one luxury I could rule out to be able to afford upgrading something else, stick grips too, used to have loads, but now two bases (more on that in a moment) both with TM Hornet grips I prefer for commonality in sims (Including WW1 LOL) we need multi button functions in any PC sims, even WW1. I digress though ... As regards the Virpil collective controller, its awesome and I do use it a lot, but found I was needing to tighten it up more and more to avoid it dropping hands off, quickly thought of the idea an adjustable counterbalance system tacked onto the back of it would be a good idea and lo and behold there is a dedicated aftermarket solution for this now, its quite expensive for what it is, cant find link to it again just now but will edit it on later. Great idea though, keeps the collective stiction/friction free and smooth ... and most importantly stays where it is for lots of types of Helicopter flying hands off ... quite essential IMHO. Second upgrade I'm making soon, and really would like to hear feedback from folk who own one already is the new Virpil CM3 base this has adjustable axis clutch dampers that can allow the stick (even with my curved extension) to stay in one flight position too momentarily hands off, or of course not need to fight the return to center resistance needed for smooth helicopter flying, this also struck me as a good idea for a slightly fwd clutch hold for nose heavy WW1 trimming for aircraft of the era that had no trim tabs, cheating I know So currently use my MK 1 CM base with curved extension for Helicopters and WW1 and 2 type aircraft that quickly clamps to desk when needed. The sidestick I use the MK2 CM2 base that is permanently on right side of my chair as part of my side by side HOTAS system and is still a great base IMHO, so the CM3 hopefully will replace my original MK1 CM center mounted desk clamp on base when needed for helicopter usage. I should update my pics of my home generic dynamic PC cockpit soon, its ever evolving, really is, new rear return springs for my TM TPR rudders due any day now, couldn't find them in UK, ordered from USA. https://virpil-controls.eu/vpc-mongoost-50cm3-base.html
  6. Apparently he's been out since the summer depending on reports I've read? I wonder how much this has to do with the current ongoing situation where the actual software developers reside? not going to mention where, but we all know and I don't want to get political, or more likely (and as I've read from good sources) his departure is because of falling expected sales? I have no hard figures on that, but with downturn in the global economy that could well be the case, the modules were quite expensive with lots of us waiting on the inevitable sales and quite rightly so. I wonder where Il2 Great Battles goes from here? I did have a few run ins with Jason about direction certain things were going (or not going) WW1 FC in particular, but to his credit he was very passionate about flight simming and was pivotal in many good changes to early GB series, getting rid of the unlock grinds especially ... I wish him well for the future, I'm sure we've not heard the last of him. I do hope WW1 Flying Circus gets its promised much needed and long awaited updates, will FC 3 and 4 now be produced? who knows? Perhaps its better to look and hope on the positive side, will they now go for at long last a WW2 Pacific series as the next project? ... I really hope so. https://stormbirds.blog/2022/10/25/jason-williams-announces-departure-from-1cgs/
  7. I have TrackIR 5 but with a neck break accident and surgery with titanium rods and screws, am not really getting full use of it any-more, or VR for that matter, VR neck saver utility helps and TrackIR can scale down the amount of head movement needed, as I'm sure your suggestions can do too NoSG0. Really must try get into my TrackIR and VR usage again, will never be able to use it as a good 'dogfighter' though with limited head movement.
  8. Deep Purple last night ... My clip! Saw DP once more at Glasgow Hydro with pals last night 22 10 22, Blue Oyster Cult were support and they were great too of course ... but my word, as big a Purple fan i am, hadn't seen them in ages and wasn't really expecting much knowing their current ages, but they were freaking awsome, Ian Gillan in particular was amazing voice wise still. Outstanding 10/10, no hesitation in giving that score, they were brilliant, still on cloud 9 LOL.
  9. On Saturday this week, going to see Deep Purple yet again. DP are totally my style, DP MK II in particular. Loved Ritchie input too of course, but I guess he's retired now. Apart from Ritchie, Ian Gillan is one of my hero's too, Roger Glover and Ian Paice. These guys are Deep Purple ... Steve Morse is an excellent fill for Ritchie and seen him play with the band twice (Ritchie Blackmore several times ) Steve Morse not on this tour tho, but new guy apparently very good ... I'm really looking fwd to seeing him play, really am 2 nights to go ... Woo Hooo What a Brit Legend this band are, so proud of them.
  10. Would be interested in this too if we have any Airband/Maritime enthusiasts here?
  11. Was on the fence for this but pretty sure will buy one now, when are they due? An Eduard canopy/turret mask set would be desirable too ... I presume they are working on this.
  12. Please let it be a 1/48 Lysander.
  13. RIP, enjoyed his roles in Comic Strip Presents, never got into the other stuff he's more famous for.
  14. I played it this morning, its really good for something that was not used.
  15. I did indeed, chuffed to bits
  16. Thanks again guys, good tips, gonna make my own broken sewing needle applicator now 👍
  17. Apaches dont get parked with folded rotors, do they? Thats my only concern with this kit in this scale is its footprint for display, was surprised how much room a 1/48 Apache took up really ! I hope they do a Sea King, they look quite natural with folded rotors and you could really go to town on interior detail with the big door slid open. Looks a fantastic kit though, love flying my DCS Apache too.
  18. Fond memories of smoochie dancing with my sweetheart as young teens to the Air That I Breath at our disco nights over in Germany when Dad was in the RAF there, great band, great songs 👍
  19. I never got today Tried at 9 AM sharp at Ticketmaster, also Live Nation, Just a loading screen at Ticketmaster, tried for an hour or so, then it stopped offering and is now showing the official ticket release of tomorrow from 9 AM. Live Nation did start offering tickets shortly after 9 AM to me but only up in the rafters that I'm not interested in ... could have got standing, but need a seat because of my hips. Will try again tomorrow at 9 AM, was surprised, managed to get excellent seats for both Roger Waters Friday and Saturday shows quite easily ... Iron Maiden are still Mega popular I guess Did book a hotel for Iron Maiden show though and even that was hard work with slim pickings at a decentish price in Glasgow ... must be something else on too? Buy yeah, will be there one way or another 👍
  20. I dont use it a lot, but what I have been using is regular supermarket locktite stuff, not exactly cheap either and not very precise in application. I use it for when this type of glue is called for in kit instructions or for repairs like broken undercarriage legs ETC. Just wondering what you folks use? Cheers.
  21. My first Maiden show was Aberdeen Capitol September 12, 1984 with Waysted as support, 38 years ago, showing my age here :) https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/iron-maiden-waysted-240e6c5a-6578-4056-afdb-6ef1659e535 Most recent show (apart from Bruce Dickinson) was Aberdeen AECC on Aug 04, 2018 with Killswitch Engage as support. Tomorrow at 9AM will be buying for the June 26 2023 at Glasgow OVO Hydro ... Bring it on 👍
  22. Nightwish are awesome, hope to see them live someday, they are playing a few gigs late next month in UK but nothing in Scotland Might pop over for the Dublin show. Anyway, tomorrow morning at 9AM will be going for some Glasgow June 2023 Iron Maiden tickets, they are doing the Future Past Tour and it will feature previously unperformed songs from the band's most recent studio album, Senjutsu along with a focus on 1986's iconic Somewhere In Time record, plus other classic cuts ... I absolutely love Somewhere in Time album. Seen Maiden live countless times ... did I mention I went to see An Evening with Bruce Dickinson late last tear at Edinburgh, he answered one of my questions, was chuffed to bits so I was Up the Irons !! 🇬🇧
  23. Typical Tamiya genius, and why not? saves building two to show one canopy open and one closed !
  24. Yup Mike, they do have regular sales, might be a wee while before BoN gets a decent sale price as its their latest product, but it will happen.
