Thanks I’ll take a look at those A pillars, I haven’t looked at the overall shape yet….never really liked these cars as a young man, they just seemed so….generic but I had a few friends who drove a variety of the real thing. A red 318 Duster, yellow 318 duster (those were 73-74) green blue and purple ones of this vintage. Myself was more drawn to chargers, road runners, Challengers, Cuda’s and the similar line of Chevy product. Not much for Fords, a common saying around then was “friends don’t let friends drive. Fords” but having said that I have to build two other good friends ford products 1968 mustang fastback in dark purple and 70 Torino in light blue with a black side stripe

Thanks for the comments, I've made a bit of progress kind of diagonal progress really. I've sanded from behind the cowl opening and the grille opening for a bit more fidelity The back of the grille sanded with a drum sander in my Dremel And the front, too shiny in my experience as well, should be bright aluminum? with black opening...I think...? and the back of the cowl, also ground out with a Dremel grinding tool and opened up with a Tamiya razor saw Thanks for looking

Yes.....I'm back, with another car kit, something I thought I was familiar with as I've spent time under the hoods of the real deal(s) but I've never seen one with a 340 6 pack. I've begun, as we always do, with the engine. I sawed off the cylinder head locaters and thinned the oil pan to improve the fit a little. the Cylinder head locaters foul the heads and push them out and away from the intake manifold. the oil pan flange was just a little thick. AMT color instructions for the engine suggest "Chrysler Rouge which, to me suggests red. I am relying on my memory here but I'm pretty sure I've never seen a red 340, I've seen many hundreds of them in that light blue, orange, dark blue, gloss black and light gray but never red. I may be wrong but I'm going with either orange or "stock blue" that light blue I remember so well. I hope to do the car as representative of 1 of 3 cars owned by friend back in the 80's light green, light blue or, plum crazy purple. I never owned a Dart, Duster or, Demon cause I thought the body was just plain ugly...but time heals those thoughts with no further babble, the work so far; the box art The engine under way, odd that AMT would include a representation of pistons but all at TDC? the cylinder head locaters still in place here and a general overview of my messy "garage" Thanks for stopping by

Academy 1/35 Tiger Mk I early production version. Now before I take a big beating here I'll admit to knowing less than nothing about armor. I build mostly aircraft, I know nothing about them either to be honest. I bought this about 15 years ago and it has worked it's way to the top of the pile several times since then and been "I'll revisit that latered" all those times. Well I'm happy to say, it's been built. Academy alludes to the kit having a full interior, I'd say more a "representation" of the interior but, that's ok too. I built the model planning to do it all beat up weathered and worn like some of the great builds of them I've seen on here but, during my search for reference images I had another thought, brand new. I decided to build it as a brand new stamping, being slung through a factory on a hoist. to that end I drilled and pinned the track links so they'd hang realistically, that worked great...took a minute but it worked but, I as the idiot I am neglected to reflect the unsprung hang of the wheels (insert the phrase dumbass here). I sprayed a lot of the model with Alclad "steel" which really does look like new steel, then several different shades of what I'd call red oxide primer. Here's the result of all that babble above; I went with Academy's recommendation for paint (mixing Tamiya acrylics) battery tops off The fenders were drilled out and marked to suggest it's still a wip. I used an image of a Tiger under construction with what looked like chalk marks and math/measurements written on the sides, here's a good view of the "hanging" tracks No explosive ammunition was loaded in the lockers and the defensive guns were left out, my thinking being they'd be fitted at/on delivery to a fighting unit on it's wheels...so to speak It was a fun build, some head scratching here and there but, ya, fun Please be gentle with the critique, remember I don't know what I'm doing As always, striving for mediocrity

Harbour Air DHC-3T Vazar Otter (Single)

Hendie It must be a problem with Otter models, when I saw what happened to yours it reminded me of mine (no, not thrown against a wall) collecting dust in the basement under an RC sailboat and now the similarity I'm told it was nicknamed "Captain Canada" for obvious reasons I guess Please note, I know there is no comparison of these to what you're doing- 294 replies

Agreed, as to the rattles and the fun. I worked on these cars, to say they were not easy to work on is a bit of an understatement. The ride height was so low we had to put down 2X4’s to get the car onto a hoist or it would snag the lift arms, the passenger side was a nightmare due to the exhaust interference preventing the lift arm from contacting anything but the lower A arm. Why put on a hoist.well, in order to do a spark plug change or any engine work because the vehicle was so low it was uncomfortable to bend down to work on….gripe gripe gripe, I know…at least this one is pre-“Optispark” system with the distributor directly behind the water pump im done griping, you may now continue the build

Much too late to help now, sorry. I’ve had great luck using super glue accelerator to u stick Tamiya (any really) masking tape, I brush it on over the tape, lift a corner of the tape and let it wick under, it unsticks the tape really efficiently. On another side note, I had a 74 Road Runner that was hit on one side, the body shop fixed it perfectly but couldn’t source the new “Road Runner” red glow in the dark stile, so they painted the stipe on….. just saying, it can happen in the real world too. and the car looked really weird at night under a street light with stipe- no stripe- stripe glow, no glow, glow -

Awesome stuff sir! I never realized the car had a tube frame! Another fellow and I built a kit car “Factory Five AC Cobra” for a friend who won a lottery of 4.5 million bucks. That kit also had a tube frame but, I thought it was just the way Factory Five did it, It took us a little over three years to get it built and finished. Mostly because the owner kept changing his mind on the direction we were going. Started with a stock donor early 90’s Ford Mustang for the driveline and axles, then complete rebuilds of the engine transmission and axle, then toss the auto and put a (rebuilt) manual gearbox, then toss the rear axle and upgrade that with a Dana then toss the brakes and 4 wheel disc brakes etc etc we (my bud and I) didn't do the paint and body but that’s the part everyone sees and he won more than a couple of awards at car shows with it. His was a silver gray with dark gray interior. -
Resin 3D cockpit interior decals are the only addition, painted with Tamiya lacquers and Alclad metalizer Thanks for looking

I don’t know why your bothering with the kit, cut out the middle man of beating this thing into shape and just 3D print a new kit…..please! -

Whoooooo, niiiice! -
Very nicely built! I love the Hasegawa 109’s I must have built 10 of them! (Now all donated to the local Legion museum) they’re great kits with interesting decals, usually more than a couple of options, clear instructions and all the aftermarket you could ask for

Gorgeous! Simply! he may not be there anymore but when I built mine I was in constant contact with a fellow by the name of John winters at Harbour Air who quite happily sent me images of every conceivable item I asked for from almost any angle he could get them. With his help and If I had your abilities my model(s) might have turned out as nice as yours. When finished that is -

Some gorgeous work happening!….3D printing eh? Damn, I had to make my master from wood and cast it the hard way…shoulda waited ( about 15 years now I guess) just a note on something I was told after my models were done, (I didn’t fix mine) the wings have also apparently been redone/ redesigned with a droop along the entire leading edge. I fellow modeller sent me images of his model where he’d amended the wings, it is a small but noticeable change…if you’re interested. -

You haven’t missed a beat on this! Incredible beautiful work! My suggestion for the distributor firing order?….its been retrofitted with a Vortec 5.3 Litre distributor and cap…which it looks exactly like, solved. -

This was supposed to be the early version with hound dog missiles but through a couple or a couple dozen screw ups it looks more like a late G In any case, enough excuses here's the model...no real attempt at accuracy but happy to have finished it As always, striving for mediocrity Thanks for looking
