  1. And I hope mine turns out as well as Mike's - though I wouldn't bet on my finishing being in the same league. It's certainly a very buildable vacform, very similar in that respect to the Wyvern. Joseph
  2. Interesting thing about the looks of the Skyshark is that seen in side elevation it's a hulking great brute, but in plan view it's nicely proportioned, a little like a slightly beefier Mustang. Goodness knows when I'll manage to finish mine - the model's in Ireland, I'm in Connecticut! Joseph
  3. I've seen a diecast of the Sheriff's Dept. S61. The S58 in your avatar looks like a 'T as well. Joseph
  4. Hi Edgar, Half a dozen eh, good God, I didn't even manage to get my hands on one even. I remember you suggesting to me at a Hornchurch Southern Expo that you could use it as a first vacform because of all the spare parts one could practice cutting out on. Matter of interest do any of the 'Brits' here remember a BBC 'Jackanory' story called 'Thunder and Lightnings'? I wonder if that's where Damien Burke got the name of his website. Best regards, Joseph
  5. I take it that you're referring to Sherman Fireflies, in which case your question translates to "Did they stay in the US Olive Drab No.9 or were they repainted in British Olive Drab 15?" I gather that they were very close when fresh but weathered differently. I've seen 5xHu:159 to 1xHU:33 quoted for No.15, also mixes of Humbrol colours and Revel's no.42. I'll try and find the MAFVA and/or Matador Models websites. Regards, Joseph
  6. I was wondering about that. Is INS Viraat the former HMS Hermes? I'm thinking of the shape of the ski-ramp. Joseph
  7. I didn't expect to see a Max Holst Super Brousard, in fact I didn't know it had ever even been kitted. Do I understand correctly that the Super Broussard saw production as the Nord 262? Joseph
  8. All those corrugations. The phrase 'flying tin barn' springs to mind. It also reminds me of the aircraft releasing the 'Gas of Peace' in 'Things to Come'. Joseph
  9. I've this kit under way and I am most definitely not looking forward to applying the kit decals, as they're the old style brittle ones. Still, needs must as the Devil drives, I'm hoping liberal application of Johnson's Klear will get the blighters to bed down. Joseph
  10. Hi Dave, Yes, you assume correctly, thanks. My (unreliable) memory tells me that Lt Ad Grey is 697. I was thinking of using the Xtracolor renderings of RAF Ocean Grey and FS15414 on my A4G, if it ever gets that far. Joseph
  11. I've the Tamiya kit substantially under way, back in my Mum's house, so no work on that for a long time. I'm afraid you do have to make the blast bags on that one. Joseph
  12. I have the standard boxing (no 'dozer blade) of the Dragon Challenger 2, with markings for Royal Scots Dragoon Guards with KFOR. The colour specified for the green in the kit is Gunze's Grau 02. Now I don't know how badly it fades or discolours, maybe there's a lot of dust, but I'm under the impression that British MBT's in Europe start out olive green. Does anyone have a reference for the factory-fresh green in the green/black scheme? Would the Tamiya NATO green and black be any help? Thanks and best regards, Joseph
  13. Edgar mentioned Aircraft Grey in passing in the thread about Sky. Was this in BS381c prewar or was it added afterward. I'm inclined to wonder if it was the postwar identity of Ocean Grey, if only because I've seen FS 36187 cited as near matches for both over the years. The reason I'm interested in Aircraft Grey is because I want to do a RAN Skyhawk one day. Of course the other can of worms in that regard is Light Admiralty Grey. Joseph
