  1. What you see is the left half of the whole windscreen. For a reason, the fuselage is displayed in merged left + right parts but the windshield only in half.
  2. They seem happy to have solved the wing dihedral problem... but the nose ??? The radome still seem too much streamlined with the nose section, there does not appear to be some sort of break between the radome and nose.
  3. Wow, the recessed details look generic and basic, and the cockpit side consoles are really poor. The Dauntless and Fw 190 share the same philosophy, big underdetailed yet expensive kits.
  4. If the rivets are like on the same brand's Spitfires, I will be very happy.
  5. In the 1st release, they did not depict the Whitcomb area rule, sort of aerodynamic pinch, in the middle of the fuselage, something that Kinetic did a bit better on their kit.
  6. I just noticed the 1 part integral rear landing gear/wheel plus same 1 part horizontal stab/elevator, no way Tamiya would choose this for a 1:32 kit.
  7. These sprues and overall level detail look way too simple for 1:32 scale, I am certain we are talking 1:48.
  8. One area where this Tamiya kit will beat Eduard's is the clear part department : all of the 1:48 109 kits I bought from them had torn-off windshield and canopy parts (meaning dented edges), as if it was intentional, or Eduard's packaging staff are really desperately clumsy. I once checked in a storeroom a few 109 boxes, 4 or 5, only 1 box featured perfect clear parts. In that area, Tamiya shines and I look forward to such kit, their latest 1:48 kit (Hien) was truly magnificent. Non stop Tamiya as far as I am concerned.
  9. Sad it shrunk from 1/32 to 1/48, going to be tiny... It reminds me of Kitty Hawk's Bell UH-1D, supposed to be tooled in 1/35, then no news for months and all of suddent it was ok for an imminent release in... 1/48.
  10. Great subject !!! The brass landing gears look exquisitely cast, unlike SAC's generally rubbish job. € 170 does not seem too exaggerated for what looks like such a quality resin kit. Will of course wait for more detailed photos but I am already tempted.
  11. Happy about the Luckymodel offer, I assume the Russian or Ukrainian prices will be in the same area. Cannot wait to place my order.
  12. Hi guys, I was wondering if AMK actually commented on that pre-order thing results ? I heard they did not meet the expected order numbers (5'000 ?) to allow for a late 2017 release but do not quote me on this. They want to attract sales but do they actually communicate at some point ? Their last Facebook message dates back to 9th August but nothing related to the Tomcat. Their change in communication strategy is disturbing to say the least.
  13. I had the choice between AMK's überdetailed F-14D Tomcat at a friendly price or this Galaxy at GBP80, I chose the safe way, a desert boulevard to go pick my C-5s . Anyway, I will of course start with one, if I feel it is a ripoff, then "мої вибачення" Roden. I am still not over-enthusiastic about the 1 part intake molded with the N1 fan but I am starting to appreciate the nacelle separate rear section : it is the reverse, cut along the very panel line. I may be possible to busy the area with grilles and actuators and pause the reverser sleeve back but then, the idea of opening the intake clamshell doors, yuk...
  14. I had the same feeling with the C-141 Starlifter kits, nice and accurate shapes but blocked cockpit/simplistic engines and landing gears ?
  15. Nice video, I just wished he paused a little more when shooting the sprues. Anyway it shows a rather simple kit. Too bad for the split wheels (could it be an issue with sink marks on 1 part wheels ? I admit the split wheels on their VC-10 kits are the nicest I have ever seen in 1/144, featuring nice tire thread and beautiful rim details) but the landing gears and their bays look like a serious improvement over Otaki's, the engines look nothing special, but still better than Otaki's. I will be honest, I was expecting a little more details, not necessarily a cargo bay but perhaps a bit more elaborate engines. Which, in turn, makes this kit appear even more expensive. I will however stick to my 2 B and 2 M models as I really want C-5 Galaxies modern tooled kits. Thank you for posting the video.
  16. My feeling is that the number of modellers interested in a Galaxy is not very high and halving the prices we have seen from Hannants or other online sellers would not increase drastically the sales, but that is just my feeling. Of course Revell released their An-124 kit with a very friendly price tag but it is to be remembered that Revell achieves an important number of sales also via supermarkets or "unspecialised" shops, so a lower price tag x more sales. Roden do not have access to this kind of sales, well at least I have never seen these kits sold in supermarkets or toy shops, IMHO they rely solely on modelling shops and online stores, which limits the sales potential and, therefore, forces them to raise the price. All of these are just assumptions of mine. Neatly designed extended slats and flaps plus separate controls OOB is already enough to tempt me, and if they sprinkle this with nice gears (please please, wheels moulded in ONE part) and engines, just take my money ;-)
  17. I agree it is more than what I would have wanted to pay (I was imagining something in the GBP55-60 range) but currently I have 3 choices : the Otaki brittle and often warped kit, the Anigrand inaccurate "M" kit and Roden's which I hope as great as their C-123 and VC-10 kits. I know where my money is going. The good thing here is that if Roden ever gets burned with this one (not recovering its development cost because too few sales), it may drive them to be less greedy on the next subject.
  18. I am the impatient type, I would rather order it from Russia/Ukraine around GBP80 when it is released than get it 6 months later with a 50% discount.
  19. lol, I will let people with 50'000£ leased cars, 200'000£ house credit and 2'000£+ cigarette yearly allowance speak with the bank manager. I have none of these, which explains I'm open to spending the more or less 100£ price tag asked for this kit. I will probably spare a little by ordering direct from Russia or Ukraine.
  20. So happy to see this beast released, I'll certainly get 2 of each versions, I have a soft spot for any large (in 1/144 scale) planes. Not that much shocked about the absence of cargo bay, I much more expect accurate landing gears and engines (these two from Otaki were jokes). Their recent VC-10 left me with such a good feeling, I hope they will have used the same almost-A-Team when developing this monster.
  21. How different is a MAX, in a modelling point of view ? This is all I know : - LEAP-1B engines - winglets - conical APU section - slightly taller nose ldg If the fuselage is a few frames shorter/longer or the wheels a few cm smaller/bigger, that is easy to deal with but how about the wings and main landing gears ? Are the identical ? Cheers !
  22. The Authentic Airliners kit is the 2nd option, it started to be available a little less than 2 month ago, now availability suspended because the fuselage master had to be reworked on, but deliveries should resume in a few days/weeks.Last option is the Dragon kit which navigates in the same accuracy level as the Revell kit, the AA kit being the definitive reproduction.
  23. It used to be officially available since a bit more than a month, but it seems the fuselage master was recently damaged and (I assume) is currently being rebuilt. Check out on their website, there are nice photos of the contents. I am just worried about the weight of that beast. Sorry for the off-topic stuff.
  24. Alex1978, exactly my view when it comes to AA realistic window decals, I will certainly use them in this case. I'm wondering if it is because the Revell 747-400 windows are unevenly sized/shaped, and that whoever specified clear window decals, they absolutely had to fit the kit? Anyway, that makes for costly decal sheets (paid 2 kits and binned everything but the decal sheets and assembly guides) that will go on a slightly dearer but splendid AA kit.
