  1. Just a couple of progress pics, now out of the paintshop
  2. Shaun Looks great, I've seen this in 1/48, maybe get me one. 72 Sqn as well, great work
  3. When looking for 72 Sqn decals, the only ones I could find in 1/48 were for the Tucano. I ended up scanning the 1/72 Model decal swallows, resizing and printing. Not the best in the world but OK. I'm sure like most people, I'm my own worst critic, I want to do somthing about these decals, I think they should be a little brighter and I may also re-do the exhausts as they look a little small Only maybe!
  4. These brought back some memories; I used to work in one of the hangars that they keep taxiing past. Noisy buggers, fantastic to watch though (better than working!). A good buddy of mine was supposed to be on the parade in one of the video's, but woke up in a phone booth, drunk as a skunk, outside a brothel just down the road. He got away with it as two of the troop Sergeants were in there with him! I was there when it closed and have been back a couple of times since. The change is unbelievable. Most of the buildings have gone and a German Rail Company have built a huge test track on the site. Kept the golf course though! You can see the hardened shelters that the Phantoms were safely tucked up in at the bottom of the picture.
  5. Pappy Nice work there, looks great but, I thought you were a dedicated rotor man! (I know, its always good to do somthing different)
  6. Here’s some progress shots of my Sea Hawk now washed with Phil’s wash. I used the dark on the Sky but the dark didn’t show up to well on the EDSG so I used the light wash, not sure if I’m 100% with it but I’m not changing it now! Disaster! Even though the decals have been kleared and the tamiya tape was de-tacked a little, I still managed to trash the No 5 on the wing! If anyone out there has a spare from the Model Alliance Ark Royal sheet and want’s to donate to a good cause……
  7. Here’s some progress shots of my Jag for the group build. Quite a bit of progress since I first posted. The cockpit is in place, doesn’t look to bad I think. Mike’s intakes are on, really easy to install, I’d recommend these to anyone building this kit (you can pay me later Mike!). I did add some scrap plastic the inner intakes, as you can see clean through otherwise! The wings are on but need a lot of filling, I’ve glued scrap plastic in place, This will be sanded and then filled further if needed. Ordinance is about there, next (after a little time filling and filing) the legs….. Filling with scrap card and super glue More holes!
  8. Andy Looks great so far, Looks like your at about the same stage as I am with my late entry Jag. I have fitted the wings but have a massive amout of filling to do. the fit is terrible. Did you have the same problems? Also if you look at the belly from the nose one side is bigger than the other! Is this common for all of these kits or did i get a "bad" one? I'll sort some progress pics out for the morning..
  9. Great build, love the runway effect, outstanding... And 1/72nd!
  10. This is a really good model site, and it includes this useful conversion info If your converting using standard scales, most of the info you will need is here. Conversion Table Hope that helps
  11. Thanks for the comment. As far as the kit is concerned I have had no complaints. The nose wheel leg is molded in place, and I've nearly broken it a few times, other than that, no problems. The kit does come with some phot etch for the IP, but I bought the Eduard kit and as stated above the Pavla (I think) seat. As lovely as the seat is, I think with the kit seat and the Eduard set, you could easly get by. This is the one and only Trumpy kit in my stash, so am unable to comment on others. Keep an eye out on ebay, I've seen them go for as little as £16 (what I paid for mine!), if not youre looking at about £20 plus another £10 for the Eduard set, not unreasonable in this day and age.
  12. Doh, I was thinking of a Hawk when I was typing... Sorry for the confusion.. Edited now... Yep thats it.. Just tried it and it fits like a glove Thanks, More black to paint now...
  13. I was lucky enough to get a Dynavector Scimitar for Christmas, (well, by get, I mean I bought and gave my wife the kit, she wrapped it and put it under the tree!). I’m sure your all aware that it’s a relatively expensive kit and as I have never attempted a vac formed kit before I though I’d have a practice else where. I have only just started to get interested in early jets, always been a prop man before, and the Hunter has been on the interest list since the start. I came across this kit on ebay for a snip, so bought it and have been building it on and off for about a month now. I have to say, this isn’t as hard as I expected! The most challenging part is understanding the instructions, a bit vague. Other than that loads of filing and test fitting otherwise no real test of modelling skills. Here’s pic of progress so far, let me know what you think. Also, does anyone know what this part is? It was in the bag of metal parts, all the rest I’ve managed to identify, but this is a mystery, to me anyway!
  14. Here's another running project. Trumpeters 1/48 Sea Hawk with Eduard pre-painted, stick on etch (I know its ‘cheating’!). So far no problems with construction. The etch is a little ‘green’ where I think it should be black, but otherwise no problem. Decals are from the Model Alliance HMS Ark Royal set, they went on a dream. Next, some of Phil’s modelling wash…
  15. I bought this off ebay "complete with aftermarket cockpit". This actually meant, "Started and part of the Heritage cockpit". (Probably why I got it for a snip!) So, now I have the Pavla seat and Peregrin wheels and Exhaust outlets. First pic
  16. Amazing amount of detial in such a tiny model. Looks great, love the 2p in the last pic, just to put it into perspective
  17. Lovely job there, Havn't attempted a Vampire yet, maybe give it a go in 2008 Looks good.
  18. Your bloody right! How did I miss that!
  19. Looks great in those colours, real cool..
  20. Thanks everyone for the coments, a really great response... I think you may be refering to the armoured plate. This was fairly unique to the Northern Ireland choppers, it folded up and bolted in once the pilot was in there seat. Take a look at one of the pics of the port side, you should be able to see it in its "flying" position.
  21. Don't know if it helps but I've seen these adaptors on ebay, maybe worth having a look...
  22. I came across this picture that I took in 88/89 having just de-bussed from this Wessex in Crossmaglen. Hmm, I've got to make one of those in 1/48... Its taken 8 months, here it is... I don't know the real serial for this picture so I have used XR489/X, I know it served with 72 Sqn, if it was in the province at the time? I don't know. Enjoy
  23. Certianly coming along nicely. I've never tried the white distressing, may have to give it ago on my next armour model. Am I right in thinking this never got passed the drawing board?
