  2. The Fw 190 A 4 is the one with the supercharger intake.
  3. This Fw 190 A 9 (?) is part of JG 301 (yellow/red fuselage band) which changed their equipment in April/May 1945 into Ta 152 H. Because production of these new planes were low, this squadron also uses their former Fw 190 A 9. The Ta 152 were camouflaged in 81/82/83 green, so it could be, that some of the older Fw 190 A were painted too with these colours in JG 301. The picture above looks like RLM 81. Most of the other Jagdgeschwader don' t use Fw 190 A anymore at this time; they changed over to Fw 190 D. The production of Fw 190 D 9 started in August 1944 at Focke Wulf Cottbus with serial numbers from 210001; these early Langnasen were also camouflaged in 76/75/74.
  4. Be careful. These are two different aircrafts. Look at the supercharger intake.
  5. It' s not shure, that the green is RLM 80. Sometimes the Luftwaffe uses also italian colours - verde mimetico - in North Africa when they change the factory camouflage of 78/79. This were also done in 1941, when they first use tan colours.

  8. ... or a P 51 B ;-), a Razorback ;-)) or a hurricane ;-)))
  9. In my opinion Hasegawa did the better 109 G 6-job. But there are a few updatings necessary, if you wanna do it "perfect". You find these sets here http://www.eagle-editions.com/ep-2%20index.htm . The spinner, oil cooler and the supercharger intake are a "must" and the battery box is to use, if you build a late Gustav with MW 50.
  10. Well done kit. The camouflage seems to be very unusual. The Heinkel 162 was usually coloured 81/82 in the way that one wing was completly coloured in 81 and the other in 82.
  11. Maybe there' s something wrong. Walter (without h) Wolfrum came as lieutenant to 5./JG 52 (= II/JG 52) in January 1943 and later changed to 1./JG 52, where he was Staffelkapitän since 11.5.1944. He was badly wounded on 16.07.1944 in a Bf 109 G-6, WNr. 163631, white 6. He came back to frontline on 01.02.1945 to 1./ JG 52 equipped with Bf 109 6 and Bf 109 G 14. The group was fighting in Hungary at this time, starting from Veszprem AB. I don't know any profile of Wolfrums aircraft at this time. This profile http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Bf-109G/Bf-109G...y-1944-V0A.html shows a Bf 109 G 6 or 14 of 7./JG 52 at this time.
  12. There where no Emils around Stalingrad as fighter planes. It only could be, that there are butchers (Schlachtflieger). Normally the SchlachtGeschwader uses Ju 87, but there are also Bf 109 E 7/U 2, which were used as butchers. These planes have special armour and use the underside racks for bombs.
  13. If you are looking for decals of any airplane you will get it from Peddinghaus in Germany. http://www.peddinghaus-decals.de/ If you send them a foto or a profile by mail, they will make decals whatever you want. The costs of this decals are about 10 € in 1/72 and 1/48 and about 15 € in 1/32.
  14. Best Kit of a quarterscale Bf 109 F 2 is the Zvezda kit. Hasegawa is always quite good, but the shape of the tail is too small, so it doesn' t look like a "Friedrich". And Hasegawa' s 109 spinners are so funny looking but not Messerschmitt. The spinner of the Zvezda modell is also not perfect but always better. When you wan't to spend some more money, you can buy the Vector Correction Set for the Zvezda F 2 http://www.neomega-resin.com/vector/109.htm (where you also can find a conversion set for the F 2/U Galland special). If you only wanna get a correct spinner, use eagle parts http://www.eagle-editions.com/ep20.htm
  15. I' m not sure, if the photo shows a Fw 190 A 9; it could be also a Fw 190 A 8. There are only little differences between these two types. Instead of the BMW 801 D 2 of the Fw 190 A 8 the engine of a Fw 190 A 9 was a BMW 801 TS. If you wan' t to build a model, you have to change the 12 bladed cooling fan into a 14 bladed one, use the later 10mm cowl ring, mostly the blown canopy and the greater wooden prop. In 1/32 you can find good conversion sets at Eagle parts http://www.eagle-editions.com/ep50.htm The photo shows a Fw 190 with an early style canopy, so it' s more probable to be a Fw 190 A 8. The production of Fw 190 A 8 and A 9 stopped at the most factories in late 1944. The last Fw 190 A 9 was build at Norddeutsche Dornier Werke (Dornier factory) in Februar 1945; the last A 8 were also delivered in February 1945. At this time there was no lack of colours to camouflage the aircrafts as in April, May 1945. So you will not find bare metal undersides on a Fw 190 A 8 or A 9. Bare metal underside's you can only find on some late war Fw 190 D 9/11 or on Me 262, which were delivered to frontline during the last two months of the war. There were also primer colours (similar to RAF sky, unofficial called RLM 84) used on these aircraft undersides. Instead of a Fw 190 D 9 (or other planes like Bf 109 K) there is no 81/82/83 camouflage on a factory fresh Fw 190 A 8 or A 9. All of them were painted in 76/75/74 colours. In the field it could be, that some of these airplanes were overpainted with RLM 81 between canopy and tail, but 82/83 colours you will only find on Fw 190 D' s. To build this aircraft in a 76/75/74 camouflage seems to be nearest to the original plane.
  16. The RAF changed the camouflage of fighter planes in the summer of 1941 from brown/green to grey/green. Until early 1941 it was necessary to camouflage the aircrafts for their fighting over the british country or on the ground. Looking from above, the colours of green/brown give a good camouflage over the countryside. From summer 1941 the focus of the battle changed to Northern France so that the pilots have to cross the channel. For flying over the channel the tone of grey was more similar to the underground, than the tone of brown. The description of these colours as "Ocean Grey" or "Sea Grey" confirm this context.
  17. There were no green crosses in Luftwaffe. Only the late style crosses, made of only four white angles, seems to be be "green" crosses, when the background of these white crosses were fulfilled with background colours. The first time this was done in Luftwaffe was on the eastern front in 1943, when especially JG 54 used two tones of green to camouflage their aircraft. You could see this on Fw 190 like this famous plane http://www.elknet.pl/acestory/nowotny/nowotny.htm of Nowotny. The cross is over the yellow fuselage band and the background was fulfilled with green. It' s not sure if this green tones were RLM 70/71 or the later 82/83. Another profile of a Bf 109 K 4 shows also a white cross with a background colour of grey/brown http://luftwaffeinprofile.se/Blue%2012.html .
  18. As a new member I' ll introduce my self as a Scale Modeler from Cologne, Germany. I'm buliding Axis and Allies Planes in 1/48 and 1/32. German Camouflage and Markings, especially in 1945 was always of "No-rules" because of lack of materials. I once asked a family member, a former mechanic of JG 3, about the "right" tone of green and his answer was: at least we use blue and yellow together to get green ! I think, also in 1945, the using of RLM 82/81 green/brown was very unusual on german aeroplanes. From factory these planes were delivered either in 75/74 (especially in 1944) or later on in 82/75. Colouring a german fighter plane in brown/green must be a field-modification. So I could imagine, that these planes were coloured first in 75/82 with the white crosses. Maybe these planes were overpainted later with RLM 81 and by the way the plane was colourd like it looks on these photos. But it also could be an "Airfix-Maybe". Off course this is speculating. If you wan`t to be shure, to copy an original aircraft, you might choose either a "famous" plane or use good foto materials. At least to anybody wondering about my nick. I' m also interesting in football and the Cologne FC winned the german championship in 1962-64-78 ;-)
