Hi all
If anyone has a complete series of Aircraft Modelworld, or even just most of them, please can I ask a favour. In the readers letters section ("Air Mail" iirc), sometime after vol. 1 number 8 (Oct '84), and probably not later than vol. 4 number 4 (June '87), there are either 1 or 2 photos of an X-27 Lancer in 1/72, converted from the Matchbox F-104/TF-104 kits. One is in the air superiority scheme of the time, the other is a 2 seater in strike configuration.
Someone on another site has kindly checked all his copies, but didn't have the following:
April to July 1984, March 1987, June 1987, November 1987, February 1988, December 1988, May/June 1989, and September 1989, so it may be in one of those.
What I'd like is to know which issue this was in, and if possible to obtain a scan.
If you are able to help, I'd suggest starting with the most recent issue in the timeframe and working backwards. However, If I got the timeframe totally wrong - apologies, it may be in a more recent copy, but not as I recall.
It also occurs to me that many people don't know what an X-27/CL-1200 looks like, so some quick describing might be in order too. Basically, imagine an F-104 with a high mounted wing, with great big leading edge extensions, and the T-Tail replaced by a more conventional shape. One kit was completed in light greys, 1980's F-15 style, the other in the Europe 1 lizard scheme (wraparound green, green and grey), 1980's F-15E/A-10 style, (though the photo(s) were published in black and white.)
Thanks
James
