Tango India Mike
Mark, there are other photographs of this particular aircraft, taken during the same sortie, which show it to be overall black (Night). Most unusual!
mhaselden
Thanks T-I-M. Yes, that is unusual. I think it would make a very interesting model. Dare I scale down from my 1/48 norm (since there'll never be a reasonably-priced Whitley kit in that scale...hmmmm!).
Tango India Mike
Yes, I've fancied doing this one, too, so it's another reason for my hoping the new FLY kits make it to Australia. Cheers! Tim.
mhaselden
Interestingly, I checked another website related to RAF Abingdon and found another Whitley pic showing full-height fin flashes. That would make another cool model if we had serial and code info.
jimbuna
The guy on the right in the front three looks like King Edward.
mhaselden
If you mean King George VI, then that's 'cos it is. It was a Royal inspection of RAF Abingdon. Turning back to the original image, here's another pic I found of EY-W on the WWII Aircraft forum: Another Pic of Whitley EY-W

KRK4m
Are there any photos of Mk.V Whitleys sporting a stop-gap camouflage scheme of Dk Earth/Dk Green over White or EDS Grey/DkSlate Grey over Black? It could happen in several units during repainting ex-Bomber Command machines into new Coastal Command anti-sub scheme.
steveinns
I must have missed a review somewhere, but what is the impression of the FLY Whitley ? It is not a model particularly popular with the model manufacturers and this one is long overdue.
Manipled Mutineer
I am very partial to the Whitley myself, in fact I remember making a (very rough) model of one with some help from my Dad, using a chair leg as the basis for the fuselage... Luckily no evidence now remains!
tonyot
The Midland Air Museum at Coventry Airport have the tail section of a Whitley that was recovered from a crash site and it still has the original paint on it. I`d love to see a Whitley rebuilt but I don`t think that the group trying to do this have got very far? Cheers Tony O
woody37
Imagine Hendon with a Lanc, Halifax, Stirling, Whitley & Wellington all together ? Off topic I know, but just day dreaming !!!!!
chaddy
Maybe we should start canvassing Airfix now.
