andyh59 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Part 2 of my He162 build this one being the Tamiya kit. This was the more involved build as I decided to show the aircraft with the engine cowling open. My first action was to make a resin copy of the Trimaster 162 nose, to replace the Tamiya kits' nose which to my eyes does not have the correct shape. I then used the Aires resin cockpit and u/c bay set plus Eduards photoetch set to detail the kit. All of this went together fairly well I'm pleased to say. The engine took a while to detail using lead wire, still lacks the full detail ( got fed up with it in the end!!). I also had the Aires gun bay kit but couldn't get it to fit due to the other resin parts used. A little about the colour scheme chosen. This was taken from the Classic Publications He 162 book, it shows the a/c that was flown by the only pilot who claimed a 'kill' Lt. Rudolf Schmitt on 4th March 1945. The description of the colour is that the 76 used was a'creamy' colour. I have taken this to be the same cream/yellowish 76 used on the late 109s and 190s. The wings were 70 upper surface, 65 undersurface and the cowling 81. this at least gave me a slightly different finished He162. Machine is aHe162A-2 White 1, 1./ JG 1, Leck, May 1945:- Thanks for looking Cheers Andy 24 1 1
georgeusa Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Outstanding pair of Salamanders you have built there. Both look great. The detailing on the Tamiya kit is just superb. Thanks for sharing. 1
