Jb65rams
Coming late to this one I have a couple of Hunters in the stash. The 1/72 Plastyk Mk58. Going to finish as the 'Papyrus Hunter' The second is the Matchbox T.Mk.7. Going to use decals from the Model Alliance Senior Service Hunters sheet. Still to decide which one, tempted by a High Speed Silver finish. Hoping to get quite a bit done over the long weekend.
Paul
Looking forward to seeing both of these go together Particularly if the T-bird is a navy machine!
Jb65rams
The T-bird will be a navy machine. First up is the Plastyk Mk.58 From reading around the web, I believe this is the old FROG boxing. Not much cockpit detail. I decided to add the Pavla Cockpit. I know it is for the Mk6, don't know what the differences are but it should fill the void nicely. Also comes with a vacform canopy, to replace the original thickly moulded canopy. As IKEA didn't have the bits for the bookcases I required, I got more time to spend on the Hunter this weekend. Result.
Jb65rams
Second Hunter will be the Matchbox T-bird. Bought of Ebay, the two fuselage halves had already been glue together. This will be built OOB with aftermarket decals. Will be finish as in Royal Navy markings.
StephenMG
First up is the Plastyk Mk.58From reading around the web, I believe this is the old FROG boxing. No it isn't, it's a completely different moulding. Not the most accurate kit by any stretch of the imagination, the worst aspect being the very slim rear fuselage. I believe it goes together pretty well though so good luck. I'll be keeping an eye on this one because you don't see many Plastyk Hunters built up, and I have got a bit of a soft spot for the dear old Matchbox kit! Jb65rams
The plastyk hunter is a bit basic. I replaced the cockpit with a resin aftermarket version, need a lot of sanding to get it to fit. Not convinced I have actually improved things. Also had to remove the lip around the rear nozzle outherwise the fuselage halves would close. Needed to use quite a bit of filler on the wing roots. The nose also needed a lot of filling as the left and right halves had different profiles especially when viewed from the front. Also made a start of the two seater. Yes I know the seats have belts, but only decided to use the "twins" after taking the cockpit photo.
Jb65rams
A bit of progress over the weekend. Halfords white plastic primer followed by appliance white. Started with the decals. I think they are going to take a while.

Jb65rams
Having finished the majority of decals on the Papyrus Hunter, decided to put is aside for a rest and work on the T Bird. Was planning to use Model Air Fluorescent Orange for the DayGlo panels but it wouldn't spray well and kept blocking the airbrush. In the end tried a thinly sprayed orange over a red base. I think it looks ok.
canberraman
Wow, you've certainly got patience with that Papyrus decalling! Fantastic finish, looks spot on. Also liking the look of the Navy T-Bird. Something about that orange and silver scheme that is most eye catching. Looking forward to the next instalment. Mark

Navy Bird
Nice work! I gotta love the Papyrus job, it is just so unusual. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but what was the occasion for that paint scheme? Cheers, Bill
StephenMG
Excellent job on these two. These kits are not the best starting points by any stretch of the imagination, but you've really made them into superb models. Well done!

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but what was the occasion for that paint scheme?Cheers, Bill Bill. I believe the occasion was the drawing to the end of active service of the Hunter with Fliegerstaffels 15. The idea for this paint scheme comming from the squadron badge that shows a paper folded plane. jb
AndyC
Nice work jb - they are great decals aren't they? A bit tricky in places and prone to folding but a spectacular model. Glad you managed a little sister for mine!
