  1. Boeing 737-130 Lufthansa. Airfix kit modified. My first entry will be the 737-130 in its Lufthansa delivery scheme. My understanding is that although delivered like this, the tailfin was repainted in the then new scheme of overall blue, with the yellow Lufthansa 'roundel' before it was put into service. The fuselage will need shortening, and the engines will require a fair bit of rework. The very early 731's had engine pods developed from the 727 nacelles and were much shorter than the later ones. I'm still looking for some good drawings of them if anyone can help! I'll also be cutting away the cockpit roof and replacing it with the excellent clear part from a Daco/Skyline 737, as it massively improves the look of the Airfix kit. Here's where we start; Nice laser decals from Nick Webb at http://www.classic-airlines.com/ Note the short engine nacelles with the 727 style 'bump' on the rear underside for the thrust reversing mechanism; Should be fun, and will complete my collection of 737s from the -100 to -900. 2. Hi folks, well I,ve been tempted to the dark side! having seen and been highly impressed for a while now by the superb civil aircraft posted here and being a little jaded by the site of green and brown paint on my ongoing Hurricane builds I thought I would have a go at something a bit more colourful. So here goes.this is Revells Lufthansa liveried A320 which features nice engraved panel lines and a superb decal sheet a million miles from the last airliner I built way back in the seventies which I think was an Airfix Boeing 727.heres the box top,and I,ll make a start next day off,now where,s the gloss paint..........
  3. I flew on the real aircraft back in 1994 and the Lufthansa crew really looked after us. I always wanted to do this one and bought the Italeri 1/72 kit as it came with the right markings and didn't have the hole for the upper fuselage gunner's position to fill and sort out the corrugations for! The kit goes together nicely and my intention was to leave the rear door open so I tacked it in place with a bit of PVA whilst painting and then found I couldn't get it open again..... I didn't want to damage the corrugations so have left it closed. Had to change the propellers for three-bladed ones, thanks to John Adams at Aeroclub for sorting those out for me, extend the centre engine cowling, modify all the exhausts and alter the layout of some windows to represent the Lufthansa aircraft. Painted with Halfords Nissan Silver and gloss black with a matt varnish over the silver to tone it down. No weathering as the real aircraft was spotless. Anyway here it is, comments/criticisms welcome. Steve
  4. Hi Gentlemen, My question is simple if I want to make a Lufthansa 737-100, which kit is better starting point Revell or Airfix? If I'm correct Airfix is mostly series 200. Revell is modern 800-series. My understanding is that Airfix will require correct fuselage length to be right for 100. Is there any ideas about engines? What are changes if modification is done to Revell kit? Fuselage lenght and engines what else? Br. Vesa
  5. Hi, So I was asking questions about Boeing 737-100 in other topic(http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234933832-revell-or-airfix-737/). And now it's time to start WIP thread. Target is to do proper model of one of these: Basically there is two ways to do this. First is simpler and then only Airfix kit is needed basically then modification is shorten fuselage two windows front and behind wing. Then there is need to change rear cabin door to larger one. Basic understanding is that Airfix fuselage is not exactly right, but this way is possible get decent model. Second way is using Revell's fuselage and shorten that to correct length and rudder wings, engines, landing gear from Airfix kit and this is my way. More pictures will come during weekend. Br. Vesa
  6. Hello Everyone This is my Airfix 727-200. It was built straight from the box. The decals are a mix of 737-800 and A320 decals, i didnt have any actual Lufthansa 727 decals...... As you can see it is in the present scheme. It was the only 727 to were this livery. The tail is alot darker as well. Im using my phone and it has a very bright flash... I hope you Like it. Thanks Bradley
