  1. Hi, I've recently started a new project: the Ferrari 312F1 1967 from Model Factory Hiro, 1/20. This is one of the greatest kits I've worked on. Here are few pics: First, test fit. No glue on the parts... nice fit  14 first engine parts: few parts of the gearbox: some of the cockpit parts: assembly of oil tank by welding: preparing front cooler for welding: Small progress on engine, some of the parts glued together... Few holes and...few rivets: Resin rivets: Backside view : I set about installing mirrors on the body ... not so easy! I
  2. Hi everyone, It's been a while since my last post and it's about time I get back on here. Today I'm sharing a build that just finished up a couple weeks ago. It's Fujimi's 1/20 Ferrari F92A (reboot of an old Modeler's kit). The Ferrari F92A was Ferrari's challenger for the 1992 F1 season. And it was one hell of a challenge. Equipped with an ill-designed active suspension and experimental aerodynamics, the car proved to be an absolute handful. The drivers were Ivan Capelli, an up-and-coming young driver, and Jean Alesi, a man no-one in the paddock could argue lacked tale
  3. As you may have seen in my WIP, I have been building this Model T fire truck for a good friend of mine, to add to his collection of model and real fire engines. It is the relatively rare Gabriel/Hublot diecast and injection moulded kit and I have to say, it's great. A bit toy like in places with visible screw heads from the construction but the detail is brilliant for such an old kit and the fit of parts is superb. Anyway, here's the pictures and I hope you enjoy......
  4. Been a while since I posted a WIP but yet again it's an emergency vehicle, a 1914 Ford Model T Chemical Hose Truck to be exact. I am building this for a friend of mine and it is the 1/20 scale Gabriel kit from 1978, a brand previously unknown to me but I'm kind of hoping someone else has built one of their kits? The kit itself is a mixture of diecast metal and injection moulded styrene with white rubber tyres, some acetate clear parts and some string for the hose thrown in for good measure. It also has a small self adhesive sheet of markings for a truck base
  5. Hi everyone, Here's a build I finished a while back but neglected to upload photos of. I built Tamiya's wonderful 1/20 Lotus Coventry-Climax 25. I finished it in the livery Jim Clark (in my opinion the greatest racer of all time) won the 1963 South African Grand Prix with. Clark led every single lap, won by over a minute, and lapped every car except Dan Gurney. It was his seventh win of the season - out of nine races. I used Tamiya Racing Green for the body and a combination of Alclad and Vallejo acrylics for everything else. The kit was a joy to build. The only problem is the engine cove
  6. I've started this new kit of a fascinating but short-lived car from my favourite F1 team. It's the first Ebbro kit I've tried and so far it looks good. I went for the Essex livery as I like the blue, although I may end up with the Courage black and chrome 88B too if this build goes well. The kit comes with both plain blue plastic for the chrome side panels and chrome decals, plus a chromed plastic set, giving several options on these parts. Following a thread on the F1M website I'm going for the blue panels and adding chrome decals. I'm hoping that someone will come out with a carbon decal s
  7. Hi everyone, My last build of 2016 - and one I finished with about an hour before New Years. This is Ebbro's lovely 1/20 Tyrrell 003. I finished it in the specification and livery that Jackie Stewart drove to victory in the 1971 German Grand Prix. He stormed to a half-minute win over Fran├žois Cevert in the Tyrrell 002. It was one of Stewart's six victories in 1971 that propelled him to his second World Championship. He also drove the 003 through most of 1972, taking 2 more wins. Overall, the Ebbro kit was delightful. The Ebbro Cosworth DFV is a much easier build than T
  8. So this is another one of my many projects that I have on the go at the moment It is fujimis 2012 Mclaren mp4/27 which depicts buttons winning car from the Australian GP, out of the box it is a good car but it has no engine detail what so ever So here is the box At the moment I am working on getting all the seems filled and sanded so I can put a layer of primer down, the nose is basically done The body is in the process of having the seems that are not ment to be there filled And a quick one to show how sleek it was compared to the other 2012 step nose cars When it come to
  9. As the title says its the Tamiya Lotus 99T. I'm not one for fine detailing things(dont have the skill yet), so to spice things up a bit i bought the Studio 27 Carbon decal set, a set of Camel decals (because they never look right without the ciggie ones) and a Goodyear tyre stencil to spray onto the tyres for that little bit of authenticity Really nice kit to build, except for the rear wing causing me massive problems. It cant be completely built and then attached to the engine it has to be built onto the engine so i had to part build it, spray then try and attach to the engine. When glue a
  10. LUM-168 Camel Luna Tactical Reconnaissance Machine Hasegawa 1/20 This was my first and, as yet, only Maschinen Krieger kit, built back in March for an Airfix Model World article, but never published. A very nice kit but a right pain to build as it's so big and the articulated legs can't really hold it's weight. I'm not that happy with the splinter camo scheme as it's a bit too dark. It went through two earlier schemes and was stripped back to plastic both times as I couldn't decide what direction to go with it. All in all, I was glad to get it done and off the bench.
  11. This is my build of fujimi's 2006 ferrari f1 car, I didn't like the way they wanted you to put it together so I cut it up and changed a lot, here's the build thread to see what I mean: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234988701-ferrari-248f1-120/ And here is the finished product Be warned very picture heavy This is roughly how it's going to look in my cabinet Front wing was a pain but only for the way I did it All the wheels were given a coat of thinned down flat black mixed with tamiya rubber for a dirty look The engine cover Rear wheel cover broug
  12. Just finished this today, it's the 1/20 Ebbro kit. It started out as the Rob Walker version, so I used Tabu decals to convert it to Rindts car The driver uses the head and helmet from an EJan set with scratch made body- it's really tricky to squeeze a driver into that chassis though! Three down, lots more to go:
  13. Right now the skyline is done with I thought that after doing so many things with doors I will go back to making f1 cars So this is what I have: the base tamiya kit Top studio full detail set Scale motor sport carbon decals Tabu Marlboro decals Studio 27 japan gp conversion wing set This will be made up as the Schumacher car, you can't make a car that won the championship as the second driver, not sure about the time frame due to
  14. Good day to everyone. First of all, I apologize for my English. I bought this set in February 2013. I saw a very unusual kit on the site hlj.com and I ordered it immediately. This is 1/20 scale model, it is a large size, especially in height. I would like to warn those who will buy - you will need shelf more than 25cm tall Kit itself is of the excellent quality, all parts fit together without fitting, many of the details do not require glue and remain mobile.
  15. Hey all, started this a while ago but as is always the case other things got in the way. Finally finished though so i thought i would share some pics. Its a kit i remember seeing in Beaties back in the day and always fancied, got hold of one from ebay earlier in the year and apart from some perished decals it was sport on. Decals used are from Indycals and i found them pretty good. Frustratingly i did some extra work to the engine, but the cover was such a nightmare to get on i am not keen to take off again, as i will break the mirrors if i do so. I'll probably try at some point but while th
  16. Recently I have obtained red bulls 2010 title winning rb6 from both tamiya and a maker called DTM. Just be warned this first post is very photo heavy First the tamiya one, most have already seen this so i dont need to waffle on to much about it apart from i have purchased the top studio cockpit, bulkhead and wheel nut sets for it also carbon decals from studio 27 and a few other little bits so here's the tamiyas car The tamiya one will be done as the brazil gp version with the previously mentioned detail sets and a bit of detailing under the engine cover Now for the next po
  17. I've just started this one after making a Tamiya Lotus 79. I actually prefer the looks of this one- the 79 was copied so much it looks a little generic now. The kit though, is far older than I'd realised (almost as old as the real thing!), and very different to the modern Lotus 79 kit. The chassis needs a bit of work before anything is glued together. First of all, the front wing was quite badly warped, and sticking upwards at about 10 degrees each side. So to fix that I've fixed a brace to the inside of the nose. This pushed the sides out to where they should be and straightens out the wings
  18. I managed to persuade the swmbo into letting me splash out on one of these recently, admittedly there is a lot of t&c's that have come with it. This car for me I said at the start of the year was the car I wanted to finish the year owning but then again I did say the 1/12 version but it was one of the compromises I had to make to get my way (there's no saying that I won't get the bigger one in the future) I do just want to say that I have done a few resin cars in the last year and for most of them they have been pretty good for fit and having little or no added bits that needed trimming
  19. Finally finished this one It's the first car model I've made, but the kit quality made it an easy one to start with. Tamiya Lotus 79+ photoetch EJan Andretti figure F'artefice decals I'd like to make another one at some point, but just as the bare chassis to go along with this one- so much gets hidden once it's all together.
  20. So far I've only built aircraft kits, but I've seen some of the awesome car builds here and couldn't resist having a go too I was tempted by the 1/12 kits at first, but it seems the choice is either between old Tamiya kits, or some extremely expensive MFH kits. And even the detailing sets are really expensive. So 1/20 seemed like a better starting point. I'm a big fan of 70's F1, and especially Lotus. So the Tamiya Lotus 79 seemed like a good first kit. First thing I did was buy an Ejan Andretti figure and start fitting that into the fuselage. No big problems there, just parts of the seat a
  21. Fujimi Ferrari F2003-GA This was brought by the swmbo for last xmas and im in limbo with a few other projects at the moment so its a good time to start something new heres the box its nothing exciting but im in the habbit of this now And all the goodies i aquired for it since its going to go quite slow as i need to finish my senna build and the f138 build first but i will get bits done on this in the breaks also i have 3 weeks off from work now and the kids go back next week so ill have a couple of weeks to really crack on soon
  22. Ferrari F138 2013 Fujimi 1/20 This is something that was brought for me by my lovely wife for my birthday earlier this month, I have a thing for any Ferrari F1 so this is right up my steet and as i dont do one that often i thought i would do a full wip on this so here goes. This is a really well thought out kit, maybe a little fiddly in places, but overall good. The main body is moulded in a very shiny piece of red plastic but its all going to get a once over with wet and dry so doesnt bother me The decals are good, i've never had a problem with fujimi decals before so lets hop
  23. Hi I have just purchased the Tamiya RB6 with some AM bits and pieces made by Studio 27 including the carbon fibre decals Last time I built a F1 car was in the 70s so things have moved on a bit and this is where I need advise so 1. Would I need to use a decal solution when putting the carbon fibre decals on ? 2. Looking at decals it appears that they are replacing the plain black paint called for in the kit instructions,so do I need too put the paint on before I use the decals on or can I decal directly on too the plastic. Hope this make sense 3.Would I need too seal them with a lacquer af
