  1. I had another little splurge, too. I had another AT-ST come from HLJ. I got a TIE advanced through Ebay & and I have a std TIE, plus 2 more X-Wings coming (also through Ebay). Think that should do me now.
  2. There's a guy on youtube called Jay Adan (he was one of the modellers on Starship Troopers). A couple of weeks ago, he posted a video where he was painting up some HALO wargaming miniature ships. He demonstrated his method of replicating engine/lighting glow using paint. You might like to check it out.
  3. Revell have said that they renew the Lucasfilm licence every 2 years.
  4. I tend to agree. Historicaly, the domestic market for the Japanese kit producers has always been their biggest earner. How many times do we hear about Hasegawa not caring about the international market, because their biggest chunk of sales are at their home market. As you say, Bandai have never had a problem shifting large, high priced kits either. Look at their electronic Space Battleship Yamato stuff. So, I also think that it's quite likely they would be thinking of doing electronic Star Destroyer, At-At & possibly Millennium Falcon, too.
  5. Yes. All very good, sane & sensible points. If Revell have taken issue with the fact that us modellers have (constantly) been heaping praise on Bandai's products & they (Revell) don't like it, well it is in their own hands to do something about it. That shouldn't mean shutting down the consumers access to superior product. It should be taken as a hint that the consumer wants high quality kits of their favourite subjects. So Revell, role yer sleeves up, use a bit of effort & give us some stuff that (a.) you can be proud to offer & (b.) us modellers will rush to spend their hard earned cash on. I won't hold my breath waiting though.
  6. Aaaand 2 days after I ordered it, my Threepio has arrived from HLJ.
  7. That does make it look like it is being done so as not to "interfere" with Revells licence for the US & Europe for TFA kits. Absolute pants.
  8. Well, I ordered a Threepio last night, as that is the only one I don't have, that I want. Shipping notice has come through already this morning.
  9. That's not good. If it is Revell causing this, then they really shouldn't be complaining. They should be upping their game and actually providing modellers with product that is equal or better in quality to the Bandai kits. I certainly don't plan to purchase any of the Revell TFA "kits". From what I've seen, they look inacurate (Falcon sidewalls again) & oversimplified.
  10. Starship Modeler are in the US, too. They ship stuff super fast. I have had parcels arrive within 3 days of ordering from them before, but usually it is about a week to get to blighty.
  11. Had to order the sheet after seeing 2 of those Typhoons at Dunsfold last weekend. Of course, then I had to order a pair of Revell kits, as I don't actually have any 72nd Tiffies in the stash.
  12. Anytime I've ordered from Culttvman, I've also had it stopped and been charged customs. If you guys are considering ordering these from the US, then I would recommend Starship Modeler. Never once (in 12,years of ordering) have I ever had a parcel from them, intercepted by Parcel Farce.
  13. Yeah, no probs. Let me know which ones and pm me your email addy.
  14. Not daft. They are very toylike. Seems they are very much aimed at the kids market.
  15. Well, funnily enough, this was my first try with a new lens I just got. I use a Nikon D3100 & the lens is a Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3. For a first go, I was quite pleased.
  16. Thanks chaps. I braved the rain, stayed & watched the Reds & then the Hawk T.2 pair role demo. I headed off after that. Was getting really murky by then. Saw the MiG-15 from the car.
  17. Yeah, leave it where it is. If you want a decent looking Foxbat, then go for the Condor kit. It's also cheap @ £9.99. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/CDR72012
  18. A few shots from Saturday. My first time going to this show. The main reason for going being one last chance to see the Vulcan. Day started out bright warm & sunny, but the weather turned in the afternoon. It began spitting with rain, as the Vulcan turned up & then got heavier by the time the B-25 displayed (as you will probably tell from the pics). I gave up shooting after that, as the murk descended, but all in all, a very enjoyable show.
  19. So, are you asking if they aren't a little short to be Stormtroopers, then?. Agree about the little differences on the Falcon. I see there's lots of tubing/cabling added along the sidewalls, too. Very interesting.
  20. Yes same kit. Only changed for the latest Round 2 release. I would say it is nearer to 1/350 scale. If you want one to go with your old 1/537, then you may have to resort to scratchbuilding. There was an old issue of Finescale Modeler which included plans in that scale, IIRC.
  21. I don't think it'll be much of a risk. The B-17 is one of those subjects that's always gonna sell. If their other recent releases are anything to go by, then it's more than likely that the new Fort from Airfix will turn out to be the best kit of the subject in this scale. I had both the F & the G kits from Revell. I ended up selling them both on. The surface detail is just way over the top and the clear parts are total pants.
