  1. Granted if you already have the 'other' Mr.Hobby gear then the cost might be acceptable... however for those of us who have not got the other 'matching' equipment then the cost might be a consideration so as the other poster said get some from Maplin or as I did off ebay mine cost £3 (incl. p&p) for 10 pairs of alligator clips. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221516771628?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT OK not as pretty as the branded ones but I'm happy with the result.
  2. Dammit...you had me, you posted on the 6th March... good one
  3. Ummm.... The fledgling Irish Air Corps had four Martinsyde Buzzard's MARTINSYDE F.4 BUZZARD (1922-1929). Purchased from the Aircraft Disposal Co. SERIAL NO.: I Delivered to Baldonnel Aerodrome, 15.8.22. To “B” Flight, No. 1 Squadron. Named “The Humming Bird”. Crashed near Baldonnel and “written-off”, 16.5.29. SERIAL NO.: II Delivered to Baldonnel Aerodrome, 14.10.22. To “B” Flight, No. 1 Squadron. “Withdrawn from use”, April 1929. SERIAL NO.: III Delivered to Baldonnel Aerodrome, 14.10.22. To “B” Flight, No. 1 Squadron. Crashed and “written-off”, 18.9.28. SERIAL NO.: IV Delivered to Baldonnel Aerodrome, 14.10.22. To “B” Flight, No. 1 Squadron. “Withdrawn from use”, October 1925. All they need now is to release the MARTINSYDE TYPE A Mk. II.... this was their first aircraft.
  4. Rolls Royce Ltd have in the past teamed up with FAB1 https://www.breastcancercare.org.uk/news/blog/chris-evans-says-5-4-3-2-1-fab1-million-lands-end-john-ogroats-challenge
  5. I agree that the return to a 6 wheeled Rolls-Royce is only right and just.... I love that they have given it the latest Phantom headlights.
  6. but that defeats the point of the opening post... I'm in the same boat so to speak in that I had a box full of pilot figures (until I gave them away),,, but I agree that like most aspects of modelling practice make perfect... Still, It would be useful for those of us that do not paint figures to have an option to add pre-painted figures to complete the Build. Another option I guess would be to commission a willing BM'er to paint a few for you....
  7. Like any tool they are perfect for some jobs but not others.... I have one which has been invaluable on aircraft but on cars I find the traditional sanding sponges better.
  8. The potential to super detail is amazing... I'd like to know who will be selling these kits in the UK and of course for how much,
  9. I'm more than happy with 1/24 but the purpose of this thread was a our ultimate car/bike/scale so I went as big as I'd like to see (1/8). However Roy asked for only one car but he didn't say I couldn't have as many of it as I'd like.... I can think of at least 10 must have liveries for my choice.
  10. It has to be a Pocher 1/8 scale BMW M3 (E30) DTM.....
  11. WNW probably think that the Dr.1 is too basic (rigging wise) to bother with... Or maybe they feel uncomfortable in their abilities to make a decent Tri-plane.
  12. Just make a funny... the methods employed in the descriptions sound interesting... any images of them would be nice to see but not a problem. As for level of workmanship the great thing about BM is all levels are catered for (you should see mine, I'm ever the optimist that it is improving) All my builds are 'what if'.... usually what if this was built right
  13. I would say a Farther/Son build would constitute a single entry (think of it as part A and part B of the same entry)
  14. While not wishing to actually paint the parts and effectively just assemble the model is a valid enough reason not to want to subscribe... the end cost at £900 really isn't a valid enough reason (other than budget restraints of course) Those people who keep referring to the £900 price are IMO deliberately ignoring the point.... and that is you that you cannot get for example a 1/8 scale (equally detailed) model of an F1 car for less than £2500. S so if you have always wanted one for your collection but could not afford £2.5K.... £7.99 a week instalments and a saving of £1600 might be very tempting...
  15. Revell have been releasing more of the subjects I'm interested in so Airfix price rises (if they happen) are not so much an issue to me, but price rises are always unwelcomed for us on a budget.
  16. £900 for a kit is steep.... however in the case of the McLaren (for example) I know of only one company who offer a fully made model and they charge £2500 for the privilege... Now as a modeller I would rather collect all the parts over two years paying in tiny instalments and build it myself for 35% of the fully made example.
  17. Well I've seen windolene for sure but didn't know if it was the same stuff... but if it a sanitised version it is probably not worth using... I'll get some IPA and experiment with it.
  18. Hi Chaps and Chapesses... I have one of the mythical pieces of equipment (a Lidl special) and have been using soapy water but in other threads I hear people mention WINDEX as a solution, however I've searched in ASDA, Tesco etc. and have not managed to see any on sale... Is this one of these US only products or can you get it in the UK... and more importantly does it work?
  19. Modellers have been producing fantastic models without KLEAR for years so I wouldn't be overly concerned at a dwindling supply... there are many alternatives out there.
