  1. All right as promised-- quick review Multi-Angle Hobby Vice from Shesto Ltd . Part of their Tool Box Range Price $20.79 PLUS VAT of £4.16 Free p&p sent 1st class post. What do you get Well basically what it says on the box Its heavy cast Aluminium construction Jaw opening 50mm Jaw width 75mm fitted with removable rubber covers. Enamel coated main body, chrome plated cold rolled steel screws. Base of clamp fitted with rubber to prevent damage to table -- that's a nice touch Made somewhere - No clues on the packaging In use Well having read reviews of other vices of this type I was slightly worried about complains of failing to actually lock in position. This Vice though is rock solid when locked. I have tried pulling it in every direction and It just doesn't budge until released I have seen the same vice advertised for £6.00 more and with p&p to be added on to that so all in all a good deal. If you need a vice of this type then I would recommend this one Thank you for reading this Ajed1
  2. Thank you for the help Guys. I settled for Multi-Angle Bench Vice [VC2235] from Shesto. Let you know what its like when it arrives. Dremel was a little bit overkill and Stanley has some problems on Quality control. Thanks again Ajed1
  3. I'm looking for a small tilt/swivel vice that clamps onto a desk top. I have tried the vacuum based vices but they seen to unpop at all the wrong times. While I can find workshop size items small ones are hard to find. Can anyone help here? Oh and it has to be available on line as I am housebound. Ajed1
  4. Sorry Walrus still looking for the original but havent given up yet. It went something like this , as far as this senile brain can remember In a galaxy on the far flung reaches of the Empire was a lonely planet which was invaded by the forces of Chaos. They appealed to the Empire for help but troops where busy somewhere else and only the Space Wolves were near enough to try and help. Now the planet wasn't rich in anything at all and the people just about scratched a living on there, so no-one was in a real rush to aid it. By the time the Space Wolves got there the forces of Chaos had tested out a new virus that killed only males and left a whole planet full of females- most of whom where in hiding. However the virus had also geneticly modifide some of the females so that they had become as strong as any male, a side effect that Chaos had not counted on. Space Wolves arrive and the battle for the planet begins with the Wolves slowly gaining the upper hand. On Chaos's side their forces can be used more usefully else where and they know the virus works, the planet is useless so they withdraw leaving the planet in the Wolves hands. Now the Wolves have gained a sort of "Home" planet where they are made erm "most welcome" (lol skip that bit edited for sexual context). Now move forward a few generations. The long lasting effect of the virus means that no male children are being born so you have a planet full of females, run by females and protected by Space Wolves, but that protection cannot go on forever. Technology has advanced by leaps and bounds so the females decide to form their own army modelled on the Space Marines which they do. However the Empire refuses to accept them as such only the Space Wolves do so. Futher genetic modification take place and the army becomes as tough, if not tougher, than any normal marines but owing allegance to no-one. As far as I can remember it that was the back story - not sure if I have it all right but I'll keep on looking. Feel free to correct any mistakes I may have made. Dave
  5. What about "How we beat the Japs at Pearl" (Hollywood version of couse) or "My victory at Kursk" by a Herr A.Hitler (now out of print) Or even "Great French Victories at Waterloo" Only Joking - no offence meant Dave
  6. Hi Walrus. There was a story in White Dwarf about a world of female warriors trained by the Space Wolves so your female "White Wolves" would fly. The back story was very like this with the Imperial Marines refusing to accept them so they did their own thing and would only help the Space Wolves if needed. So you have a good case there and best of luck with the models -- maybe you can beat those pesky wood elves this time. Dave
  7. A number of these so called "Experts" were far to young to have been around at the time of the BOB and as have been already stated "Its easy with the result of hindsight" to access the result. Yes there were brave men on both sides, as there is in all wars, but also there was the civilans who suffered but "kept on keeping on" supplying the vital componants that made it all possible and they never seemed to get mentioned. The effect of "published " figures at the time gave the general population in the UK the hope that the war was winable. If the figures were true or not was not questioned at the time and, even though I was but a child at the time, I can still remember the feeling of pride that ran through the nation. A victory is when one obtains ones aims - ours was simple to stop the Nazis - theirs was to batter us into submission, so on those grounds we won - end of story. As for "half hearted" attacks I shall remember that when I visit the common grave of fellow pupils that didn't make it and tell them _"They didn't really mean it.!" Dave ( bombed out three times during the Blitz)
  8. There are a few of us painters of GW stuff around. Never done Warhammer 4000 just Warhammer (fantasy) so can't really advise on that. But its good fun, YouTube has some hints and tips on paintingand well worth a search. Also try this Britmodeller.com > Modelling > Other Modelling Genres > Figures. Good Luck Dave
  9. There are some operations that will never and can never be released or made public. Mainly they are so called "black operations" and could still cause embarrassment to the UK even years after the event. So the official line is "it never happened" as the government of the day denied it at the time. In these cases 30 or 50 year rules mean nothing. It wasn't us. We were never there. Dave
  10. And very nice that is too. Welcome to the madhouse, hope you have a great time here. Dave
  11. Hi All Trying to keep this as one thread so please excuse me. The 2 extra cannons appear to be mounted internally with fairings which fitted onto the nose cone. (see Doug's post dated Dec 1 2009, 09:43 AM in this thread). As the fairing seem quite complex curving in two directions at the same time I haven't a clue how to model these. So what would be the best way to tackle them. I don't have a spares box so nothing I can use from there. Any suggestions most welcome. Dave
  12. Hi Brian Welcome to "Mikes Modeling Madhouse" better known as Britmodeller- glad to have you aboard. That is a very fine build you have going there. Can't wait to see more. There are a lot of friendly and knowledgeable people here so if you have and queries just ask. Dave
  13. Hi there. Just like you I am rubbish at this - so I take it one step at a time. But you've started off in the right place. Everyone here is helpful and you will get answers. Having completely ruined my first "return to modeling" Kit - I went back to basics as things have changed so much. So hang in there - there's a lot to learn but here is the best place for it. Good luck with your build and don't give up. Dave
  14. Hi all, Picking this up again. I have some plans for this build but there is no stated scale on them. They are for the cockpit interior but there are no dimensions. Now I do have the model parts to work on so I can find out the size of those but how do I convert the plans to match the kit? I have XP Pro SP2, Photoshop CS2 and a Canon iP 3500 printer with a Samsung SyncMaster P2250 monitor. At a pinch I can measure directly of the screen, or even print out and measure that then do all the complicated maths but there must be a better way. Any hints, tips or help would be most welcome. Thank you in advance. Dave aka Ajed1
  15. Discipline also covers keeping all your weapons and equipment in the best possible order. In the days of hand to hand combat this was even more important because failure of even a strap could put your life at risk. We have all heard the "for a want of a nail a shoe was lost etc. So any solder, who was worth his salt, would check his kit as soon as he was able to and make running repairs etc. Rust was another problem to be dealt with as it could seriously damage the armour. Add to that pride in the Legion translating into pride in one's appearance and you have a smart army. So dusty after a long days marching, and setting up a fortified camp at the end of it, Bloody after a battle maybe but as clean and tidy as possible the next day. My 2 cents worth. Dave
  16. Thank you for the link Mike. I have never done anything like that before and I think I shall need some practice before attempting it. So I'm putting it on hold for now. Lets see if i can actually build this kit before I press ahead with anything else. SO much to learn yet. Thanks for all the help Guys Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  17. Doug Inkjet printer yeap but decal paper? hmmm never heard of that one -- have to have a search round. Thanks for the offer. Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  18. Micromesh set from paul at little car arrived today. Thank you Paul. Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  19. OK next stage. Decals are a little short, though the main ones, apart from the swastika on the tail fin, are there. Does anyone do a complete set? 1/48 scale So what is it with the swastika. Are we changing history and denying it was ever used? I can understand it being banned in Germany but the rest of the world? So all I need is 2 swastika's but the only sheets I can find are double/treble the price of the kit. Not the way to go. Its supposed to be a cheap learning build. Any sugestions? Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  20. So Mike know about shackles - not gonna ask about whips, chains and handcuffs:) But interesting - very interesting Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  21. Ant wrote silverburn wrote But then followed it up with this Damn and blast -- The only Klear I managed to find and purchase was the new one -- so where does one get the old type from? Does anyone sell it on line? Hope the baby arrives swiftly and without any trouble silverburn. Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  22. Hi Doug Thanks for the drawings. They make it much clearer. Hum the rocket rails! What have I let myself in for? This is supposed to be an E-Z Build. Sigh! Well Rome wasn't built in a day and I don't think this will be either. Anything else to watch out for? Slowly gathering information and ordering tools/materials that I might need. Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
  23. Thanks to Walrus the cannon problem has been solved - even I can scratch build those While at the risk of becoming a pain, BM is the only source of reference that I have, apart from Goggle, so silly questions about decals etc are only because I don't know where to look for stuff. All this aftermarket supplies and buying on line are a step learning curve to me so I need all the help I can get. So all and any suggestions are welcome. Thank you for all the help I have received so far. Ajed1 Who Dares Wins
