  1. If its any help mate, my BD Jag; the striping only went into the intakes as far as the rear of the 1st door. From there on in it was white or primer. Could have been different?, modellers license prevail..........................
  2. I'm doing my Matchbox Buccaneer. The kit Canopy shows the middle rib (that goes behind the pilot over and across the Nav) moulded at a 90 degree angle to the edge, where as on the 1/1 scale they are at a angle leaning towards the rear. How do i remove the original raised moulding without scratching the canopy to bits?
  3. I know, Green and Grey - whats all that about!
  4. Finished this last night. My Matchbox 1/72 HC1 Chinook depicted as ZA708 of Boscombe Down in 1983, where it was being use for icing trials around the world. The kit itself was pants (i wont be buying another!). I've put the ramp down, but there is no added detail inside other than weathering. The front canopy is a whole piece and it was wider than the body it mates too; so lots of sanding down. The antennas are all made of plasticard and stretched sprue. The camera pods are made of Plastic rod and squared off at the top. The markings were a pain to get right but eventually......... oh and i learn't that what ever colour decal you use, you must put a white one underneath. The ones i got were more see through than a politician. Anyway my thanks to: Don Mcintyre - for advise on the antenna Dave Fleming & Paul Bradley for info on the Helo itself - thanks for you time guys. Sorry about the quality of the photo's its a new small 3m pixel camera. Oh the orange is a lot more colourful in reality. Dont know why but in the photo it looks quite bleeched.
  5. Tis OXFORD blue, and over time is get sunbleached.

    Could be insect remains
  7. Nearly finished my 1/72 Matchbox Chinook. Should i use the Aeroclub stretchie wire or a metal rod for the antenna on the port side, that runs along the side of the airframe?
  8. It can be done. I've just made the T5 with the slipper tank and wings from the airfix jobbie. I just cut behind the weapon pylons along the raised trunking to the rear - use the straight edge thats already there. The wings are different at the body join but nothing filler can't sort out. I think the tailplane is wrong on the matchbox as the actuators are big buldges and im pretty sure they should be cut off.
  9. Can't wait for Salisbury mate. Ripple colours everywhere
  10. Glad to see your back, thought you'd given up on this one?
  11. Did fancy doing one myself in the white/grey colours, but it wont be for a while yet. Still waiting for a phone call from my LMS to say its in!
  12. Doing mostly 1/72 myself I fully apprecaite the effort you've put in - WELL DONE.
  13. I'm surpised nobody's done one in the primer colour. I've seen a Sea Harrier (1/48) at shows and it looks really different.
  14. PHantastic (sorry couldn't resist ). Are they both going to be done with the RED/WHITE/BLUE or RED/BLUE roundels?
  15. Stratos - Cool, what a blast from the past.......
  16. Might take more of my ripple stuff to Yeovilton, certainly brightens up the table amongst the green stuff.
  17. Fantastic - Thanks very much.............
  18. Just imagine if your kit was in the ISO container that split apart on that ship last week. Your kit could be floating around the english channel.
  19. Hey I REALLY like that. That's a good build, makes me think I might look for a MIG 21 at Yeovilton now..............
  20. Just looking through my reference books. Is the wrap around camo in the 70's onwards darker than when they had grey undersides, or an optical illusion because of the wrap around effect?
  21. Anybody got a photo they could post?
