  1. Yeah I've got the Hasegawa kit. I didn't realise the other boxing had both LERX. Frogeyes are the other element I was looking at (I've only just realised that my boxing actually has those, I'd assumed they'd be on a sprue with the bigger LERX so that's a bonus). Most jets seemed to have those from what I could tell. I'll have a look and see what other boxing I can find. I'll also drop an email to ModelsForSale and see what they say. Thanks everyone.
  2. Thanks for taking the time to take this photos. Hopefully I an find one somewhere, but I'll have a look and see how easy it will be to make some of these up myself.
  3. Hi all, I'm just getting back into the hobby and have started back with a 1/48 Harrier GR9 conversion. I'm trying to source a 100% LERX, and although I have seen a few different producers, I can't find any in stock anywhere. Does anyone know where they can be acquired? Thanks, Andy
  4. I've just had mine delivered and its the first Airfix kit I've had in years. There must have been some problem with it though as it looks like someone has taken all the airfix sprues out and replaced them with someone elses. Airfix is never this good. I really was amazed by the quality, thumbs up to Airfix, they have come on leaps and bounds!
  5. Those pylons and stores look awesome! One small point though. The mission marking for the decals are for the end of the war. At this point I doubt they would be loaded with 8x1000lb, if it were me I would try to blank out the 6 lgb marks on the right hand panel. Andy
  6. I never knew that, I had noticed it was a "snug" fit on harrier, but sort of assumed it was just coincidence.
  7. Fair point, well presented. Post #7 on this thread. Its the Digital Joint Recon Pod as used on Tornado and Harrier.
  8. Hi all, Thought I'd post up the results of a little side project, its a 1/32 DJRP which will eventually go onto a tornado that seems to be stuck down a very long pipeline. Its built up from several spare drop tanks and has just had a light spray to show up all the flaws in the surface. Next it needs the harness beefing up, panel lines filing, new ones scribing, and a bit of detailing. Cheers, Andy
  9. I think these are being procured for the GR4s that are off to Afghanistan. I think the idea is to provide a greater/automated defence against ManPads. I think they might be coming in under a UOR. Andy
  10. WOW! I've been following this one for a while. I knew it was going to be good, but this is beyond all expectations. Cracking work! Andy
  11. This should be an interesting one. It wouldn't be for a certain competition would it?
  12. OK, thanks for the help everyone. It's the GR4 in particular. Some good links to go on posted there. It still looks like either arial or helvetica is used at the moment. If anyone has the definitive answer I'd love to hear it otherwise I'll stick with those two. Andy
  13. Sorry for the confusion, I mean the text all over the thing that says things like "NO STEP" or all the other little bits of warning and information text. Arial is close but the R is wrong. I think Helvetica might be closer but I'm not sure.
  14. Hi all, Does anyone know what typeface is used on modern RAF stencilling, in particular on the Tornado? Even better if anyone know standard height for the text too. Cheers, Andy
  15. Sorry about the lack of progress on this one. I fractured my arm at the start of last week and have not been up to doing much on this project yet. Hopefully more will come soon though. Andy
  16. Master Casters do them and they are really nice. http://www.mastercasters.co.uk/resources/MST32028_2_800.jpg I'm using them for my build
  17. That would be really good, I was going to ask if you had a source. I'm quite happy with scratch building them but I only have a couple of vague photos so far.
  18. Hi all, I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to build for the group build yet but It'll probably be the GR1. Bits I've aquired so far include.... 2 x Revell GR1 kits 2 x Blackbox cockpits 1 x Flightpath detail / GR4 conversion set 1 x Flightpath flaps/slats (these are ultra complex and I'll only be using a few bits from them) 1 x Paragon flaps/slats 4 x Paragon Seats 2 x Mastercaster modern pilots (converted to fit in the cockpit) 1 x Flightpath Alarm 1 x Flighpath TIALD To begin with I think I'm going to go for a Granby GR1 (probably Nikki) with 8 1000lb bombs, bb pit, paragon seats and the master caster crew. I also want to try and build it gear up mounted on a stand. The GR4 in Telic scheme will probably follow with the rest of the stuff at a later date. I have started bits but it's no way near 10% done let alone 25% so I think I'm ok. I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone elses work. Andy
  19. Granby nose art site - load of shots of most jets here

  21. Wow, that is one nice diorama. Very well done.
  22. What a fantastic build! The work that’s gone into this is truly astonishing. Andy
  23. It looks like they used a range of weapons including 1000lb iron bombs, 1000lb Paveway II (both live and concrete), RBL755, Sidewinders, Mavericks and TIALD. Some jets flew with the old empty gun pods, others used the streaks on the fuselage. Most had either 2 or 4 BOL rails fitted. There are photos of jets with Paveway but no TIALD so they must have done some buddy lasing. According to my refs a few load outs were as follows: (port - starboard) 1. RBL755 - Maverick - empty bol rail - tank - gun pod - gun pod - tank - empty bol rail - Maverick - RBL755 2. 1000lb iron - 1000lb paveway II - empty bol rail - tank - gun pod - gun pod - tank - empty bol rail - 1000lb paveway II - 1000lb iron 3. RBL755 - 1000lb paveway II - empty bol rail - tank - TIALD - gun pod - tank - empty bol rail - 1000lb paveway II - RBL755 4. RBL755 - RBL755- empty bol rail - tank - gun pod - gun pod - tank - empty bol rail - RBL755- RBL755 5. empty bol rail - 1000lb iron - sidewinder on bol rail - tank - gun pod - gun pod - tank - sidewinder on bol rail - 1000lb iron - empty bol rail 6. empty bol rail - 1000lb paveway II - sidewinder on bol rail - tank - gun pod - gun pod - tank - sidewinder on bol rail - 1000lb paveway II - empty bol rail Those loads are shown in photos in the Model Alliance Telic special. I hope that helps a little. Andy
  24. Cool! Looks like I'll have to postpone my only just started build to take part in this one.
  25. Interesting stuff! Especially as I was about to start work on my 1/32 pylons the other day. Andy
