  1. All is clear now. For info I tried the nose on the old airfix B6 without knowong that the nose should "droop"
  2. Apologies John, thanks for clearing this up once and for all. Van
  3. Here is a pic of the Aeroclub nose taped to a Highplanes nose-the contours all match quite closely until...the curve forward of the fishbowl. This is shown by the only visible part of the Aeroclub version. I cannot say if the High Planes nose is accurate, only that when completed it has the snub nosed look that I think the aircraft has. It may all be an optical illusion of course! I hope this post is seen as constructive criticism. John your post beat me to it! I think I get it now.
  4. The more I look at the Aeroclub nose the more i think it is off in profile, it is more like a symetrical cone whereas what I see in the real thing and in pictures is where the curve down to the tip of the nose from the canopy is steeper than the curve up from the underside of the aircraft. I realise i am probably explaining this badly..http://www.flickr.com/photos/52467480@N08/6918589056/and taken by me below;
  5. I have ordered one too, having used hlj before. This is despite the uk importer having it on their lists.
  6. Sorry I checked pricing on the HLJ currency converter, which must be out of date...I stand corrected
  7. As I had begun to think-it is the way the canopy sits that makes it look odd-more fettling I think! Best wishes for Xmas and the New Year Van PS I think I need to apologise to John: Sorry, John...
  8. Did anyone notice how the ejector seat handles are a dirty yellow with the black stripes hardly visible (49 seconds into the first video) and how weathered the Javelin tail is with what looks like panel line preshading (!) at 1minute 24 seconds of the first video
  9. A rather patronising comment, I think.
  10. Hi Chadders The nose part is the right way up, as there is the bomb aimers flat panel underneath the tape-it is in the correct position. However you have a point re the curvature. I think the Aeroclub one as I have fitted it seems not to curve down steeply enough from the fishbowl canopy. I trust John's measurements-maybe it is because the canopy as i have fitted it seems to be sitting on rather than moulded in to the fuselage? Van PS I can't believe I am bringing this up as I am not usually too worried about accuracy as long as it looks ok
  11. Its not painted asyou can see, but all the bits are there... And a High Planes one I made a couple of years ago. Quite different nose shape. Same rushed photography!
  12. No-as I said: too long and conical forward of the cockpit....
  13. Is it me or is the new Aeroclub nose conversion a bit long and conical forward of the cockpit? I have several of these conversion sets, but have just installed one on an old Airfix kit andit went on ok with a little fettling, but somehow looks too long... Van
  14. in 72nd scale I much prefer decals. Van
  15. Thanks for checking. Van
  16. I thought the High Planes Canberras were all based on the Italeri B 57 Glad to know that they corrected the error for the B2. I really enjoyed building mine and didn't add any cockpit detail as you can't see much.... even in a real one!
  17. I read somewhere that the rear fuselage is way off-can't remember though. I don't really care as I built one-and to my eye it looks like a Canberra a few minutes later....http://ipmscanberrasig.webs.com/apps/forums/topics/show/8461685-italeri-1-72-b-57-canberra-musings it says the High Planes kit is based on the Italeri and that the rear fuselage is squashed because the wings are in the wrong place...how true this is, I have no idea!
  18. When I got back into modelling I bought various cockpit detail sets for 72nd scale kits. Then I realised that virtually nothing can be seen when the kit is built. So now I save my money!
  19. Brilliant picture, I have never seen an F-101C in SEA camouflage
  20. Thanks, thats helpful. Although to further complicate things: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Su-25_cockpit_-_5110.JPG Van
  21. When I last sat in the Mig-27 at NAM I thought the colour could be described as "turquoise"-thats what it looked like to me. Maybe the SU-25 is different. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mark_maclean_photography/4029700989/ not my photo Van
