Revell (Hasegawa) 1/72 Lockheed P-2 Neptune Koninklijke Marine

From my viewing they appear to be glossy white ? No worries though, as you say very likely a trick of the camera. I used FS36375 which is probably too blue in reality, but it does look quite light in the photos. -

@Corsairfoxfouruncle they are grey, I think the camera has washed it out somewhat. The overalls are much more orange in reality too (although still too much red compared to the real items). I also need to apply another matt coat as they look too shiny in the picture. -

I have made a small start, the interior has been given a coat of DGG and the rebel pilots have been installed in their seats. I realised that I did not have any orange so had to use Humbrol 209, it is far too red but I wll have to live with it. The crew also currently look like they are wearing gauntlets so I will have to address that. There is virtually no interior with the kit, not even yokes, and the raised instrumentation depicted on the panels is rather ficticious. None of it will be seen when it is on the shelf however. -
Hi guys, I am in with the special boxing of the lovely looking 16 Sqn display scheme in the 90's. The Hase kit is knocking on a bit but I believe it looks the part when built up. I have already built a Tornado in virtually the same scheme so they should look pretty good together. Fingers crossed anyway. Dave

Hi Eric @Snafu35, it is a big plane but I was meaning more the depth of the box: (Please excuse the dodgy legs). The sprues rattle around a lot in there to say the least. I am not sure if it is a standard-sized Revell box but it seems extreme for this kit! I am back from holiday and spent the week conducting assessments at work so am planning to start thus tomorrow. I will be building it straight out of the box so the work you are doing on yours will make this one look rather plain! (No pun intended). -
Fly 1/144 Douglas C-9B VR-57 Not a bad little kit, a bit rough 'n ready in places. Thanks to @modelling minionand @81-er for hosting this one.

I am back from holiday so finally finished it. It is a little rough and ready in places but it looks like a C-9B. I dropped it at one point which resulted in a crack in the underside seam, but as it will stay on my shelf I can live with it. One of the antenna on the upper fuselage is annoyingly offset but removing it will cause a lot of damage. Again, I will have to live with it. Ultimately it brings back memories of seeing them at Northolt, and I am happy with that. Dave

I am back and we are complete. She is on her feet and good to go, the penultimate RAF mark and the ultimate for 602; having flown Spitfires throughout the entire period of WWII and beyond, this was officially the last Spitfire to leave the squadron before the Vampires took over. Another one to my (too) slowly growing 602 collection, having served on the Sqn for 4 years before being posted down to Swanwick (and to 600 Sqn for a couple of years) I felt the need to commemorate the history of my predecessors. This has made me want to get on with more so I will shortly be raiding the stash accordingly. Aside from my usual hamfistedness, this was good fun. Dave

We are away on holiday tomorrow and I was hoping to have this finished but, alas, it is not to be. The prop is on and a clear coat applied but the undercarriage, pitot etc still need to be attatched. Hopefully I will finish this a week on Sunday. Here she is at the moment: I have realised that I inadvertently filled the fuel tank cap which was something of an oversight. I will have to live with it for the time being.

Thank you @Col., that makes me feel better! The decals are on, and as the only picture of the aircraft I have is a black and white one where the angle of the wings blocks the serials, I have no idea if it is correct. I have based it on other RAuxAF examples (mainly from the rivals - 603 Sqn) so hopefully it is correct. Annoyingly there should be some red stencilling around the cockpit door which initially there was, but has now disappeared due to my clumsy handling. Anyway, prop and undercarriage next.

The decals are all on and it is looking like a C-9B. The decals are incredibly thin but have gone on ok and seem to look the part. As I mentioned before, the stripes were way too fragile and there are many overlays as a result, meaning there are a lot of darker areas where the decal is double thickness. The kit's stars and bars did not look right so I replaced them with some from an Xtradecal set. All the various antenna need to be added along with the undercarriage, then I can call this one done.

Hi guys, As mentioned in the chat, I am in with this old girl. The box is huge (and a bit battered) compared to the kit but it seems to be in one piece. I will be finishing it in the all-grey scheme rather than the white-topped version as I think it looks cooler (a bit like the Shackletons). I will miss the start of the GB as I will be on holiday but look forward to starting when we get back. Dave

There has been something of a delay with progress but the main parts are now assembled. To say the decals are fragile is an understatement! They are also rather translucent which is less than ideal but I will have to live with them. I have had to use cryano as Tamiya's finest would not work, so hopefully they will stay put. I will be attempting the rest of the decals tomorrow so fingers crossed 🤞.
