Ken Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 In 'War Prizes' by Phil Butler, there is a b/w photograph of VM215 (Page 132) before transfer to the Armee de l'Air. Any thoughts of the colour scheme/camouflage please ? Ken 1
Test Graham Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Either Dark Green and Dark Earth or Dark Green and Ocean Grey. Undersides probably Yellow.
Dave Fleming Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I think that's one's actually after tran sfer to France - the roundel looks French. Colopurs could be grey/green or green/brown
diamant Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Hi to all, I have just found this photo (I do not remember where) and wonder if someone could help us with information and suggestions. I would like to add this one to the ones already did Thank you very much Cheers Santiago 1
stevehnz Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 This website has it captioned as "Bücker Bü-181 "Bestmann" training aircraft from the 318th Fighter Squadron. Treviso, March 1946 " Steve.
diamant Posted April 27, 2024 Posted April 27, 2024 Hi @stevehnz Thank you very very much for your reply. Do you know which colour should have had? Any suggestion? Cheers Santiago

Cheers Santiago Found the originating site, not sure of the scheme But there are a couple of other puctures At a guess, green over RLM 65? https://www.polishairforce.pl/messerschmitt.html?fbclid=IwAR1PBabvgRC4frqU1qaQEr8KdD3l0hgYKSC052zT3zKim_68Yev9mzRCOsw
Graham Boak Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 318 Sq, not the 318th. There is a Polish square on the nose of the Bucker too. 1
diamant Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Hi @Dave Fleming Thank you very very much for your post on the website. Those additional photos will be of much help to us as well as your suggestion about the colours. I just bought one kit from Hannants to represent this aircraft. We will have a new display cabinet so adding this will not be a problem at least for the next couple of years. Thanks @Graham Boak. You are correct. The Me109 which appears on the site is also interesting. Cheers Santiago
Dave Fleming Posted April 28, 2024 Posted April 28, 2024 Looking at the pic, I wonder if it’s Ocean grey over RLM with a red or yellow nose? The tone of the Bucker matches the grey of the 109

The way the colours of the roundel appear may give some clue as to what sort of filters were used on the camera & maybe someone who understands such things @Graham Boak might have some ideas. Steve.
diamant Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Hi @Dave Fleming and @stevehnz Thank you very much for your comments and suggestions. I have already bought on kit of the Bu 181. As soon as the kit arrives my father will build it. Kind regards Santiago 1

The code is for a Polish Squadron .No.318 I believe and was based in Italy. The nose marking is the Polish chessboard so familiar on all Polish units in the RAF.. 1
diamant Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 Hi @Paul J Thank you very much for your comments and additional information. I will see what else I could find about this aircraft. Cheers Santiago
