Irishgreek Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Any comments on this kit would be appreciated. Thanks.
Dave Fleming Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Old, rivetty and underscale. The Academy kit is far better
John Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 (edited) I built one about a year ago, using parts from these 2 incomplete kits: Fairly typical mid-period Airfix, plenty of rivets and the perforations in the dive brakes are moulded as raised circled: It was designed with folding wings as an option but there's no detail at all in the wing fold: The only place I found a problem with fit was at the rear of the wing centre section, as shown here: You get a good selection of weapons and the kit builds up nicely but you can't really display it with the gunner's canopy open and, as Dave says, it's not exactly state of the art. Terry McGrady Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Any comments on this kit would be appreciated. Thanks. I enjoyed building it in the Late 60's. Can't say I'd bother now.
BAC Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 As others have said, it's a bit old and rivity but fine for a bit of non 'AMS' weekend fun.... Cheers!
Irishgreek Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Just thought I would ask about it, because I have never had it and saw it 'highlighted' as a new boxing on the Airfix website.
f4h1phantom Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Bought one last year on eBay to reproduce the blue one with orange band as I had built as a kid. Building got stalled when I noticed the landing gear well should actually end some 4/5mm outboard. Still trying to figure out how or if I will correct it. Just a nostalgia build on my part. If you want an accurate one, go for the Academy kit. Cheers, Jorge.
