yeehah1 Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 05-06-2008 Hi guys, I am just about to start the Revell 1/48 kit and was wondering if anyone has the equivalents to the Revell mix'n'match call-outs? Specifically the cockpit area and the color "D" listed as light grey.... Any help appreciated Liam
hatchet Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I think the pit is (dark?) admirality grey. For Revell #371, perhaps this is helpful? HTH

I've seen refs which state fuselage is FS36320 with RAL7030 radome but not 100% sure of this. HTH Andy
Giorgio N Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 I'm pretty sure the pits are in dark admiralty grey for all the users. Liam, I don't have the kit so I don't know what parts are supposed to be in the light grey you mention. Can you be more specific ? The colours scheme is FS 35237 for both german and austrian Typhoons, with the radome in BS626 Camouflage grey . Giorgio
Bobski Posted June 6, 2008 Posted June 6, 2008 The 'pits are all built at Salmesbury and I believe that they are all the same, ie a mix of dark admiralty grey and matt black (for the panels etc)

Giorgio This, FS35237, is correct, pretty much the same colour they used on the upper surface of their F-4F's.

Giorgio 07-06-2008 Hey Giorgio: I am looking at the leading edges and the edge of the tail fin Liam
Giorgio N Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I haven't found any official description of the colour for those parts of the fin. However they seem to be on both the italian and the german machines of the same colour of the radomes. Therefore I'd use BS 626 camouflage grey for these. The radomes are built all in the same colour by the same company for all the Eurofighters. Giorgio

One thing of note for anyone making the RAF versions from the kit is that the stencilling isn't quite right - it may have based on some older BAe drawings, the most notable thing is that the kit has several "NO STEP" markings for the wing whereas the aircraft have a Dark Camouflage Grey walkway line with "DO NOT STEP OUTSIDE THIS AREA" inboard.
F3 Demon Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 If you check-out Don Color web site www.jpsmodell.de they quote FS 36320 overall with RAL 7030 for the radome. hope this helps Ian S
Giorgio N Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 From what I know in this case Don Color got it wrong. However from a modelling point of view, using the 35237 straight out of the tin can give a finish that looks too dark, so using a 36320 can match some pictures better. As for the radomes etc, FS 36314 is supposed to be the US FS equivalent to RAF camouflage (or barley) grey, so all the info seem to match. Giorgio
