PhotoBucket are no longer permitting 3rd party hosting   01/07/17

As most of you are now painfully aware, Photobucket (PB) are stopping/have stopped allowing their members to link their accumulated years of photos into forums and the like, which they call 3rd party linking.  You can give them a non-refundable $399 a year to allow links, but I doubt that many will be rushing to take them up on that offer.  If you've previously paid them for the Pro account, it looks like you've got until your renewal to find another place to host your files, but you too will be subject to this ban unless you fork over a lot of cash.   PB seem to be making a concerted move to another type of customer, having been the butt of much displeasure over the years of a constantly worsening user interface, sloth and advertising pop-ups, with the result that they clearly don't give a hoot about the free members anymore.  If you don't have web space included in your internet package, you need to start looking for another photo host, but choose carefully, as some may follow suit and ditch their "free" members at some point.  The lesson there is keep local backups on your hard drive of everything you upload, so you can walk away if the same thing happens.   There's a thread on the subject here, so please use that to curse them, look for solutions or generall grouse about their mental capacity.   Not a nice situation for the forum users that hosted all their photos there, and there will now be a host of useless threads that relied heavily on photos from PB, but as there's not much we can do other than petition for a more equitable solution, I suggest we make the best of what we have and move on.  One thing is for certain.  It won't win them any friends, but they may not care at this point.    Mike.

  1. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/3y95u3 They're all great, but I'd say the clone trooper . Endless conversion and colour possibilities
  2. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/kkWcTS have you considered a display cabinet tipped on it side like this . I got this in IKEA some time ago but it looks good sideways. The glass front helps with dust issues
  3. Very cool
  4. Received bear with me it could make or break this project - most likely break it
  5. I managed a bit of progress today . started on his eyes and added some hair colour to get me started. I've also continued on with weathering the armour more. I find it very helpful to add a bit and revisit again and again . I originally just splattered various. Mig pastels and left then to dry. Now I have applied completely dry mig industrial rubble with a brush working it in quite firmly. then I went over it with an old slightly and horrible stiff flat brush which gives the random scratching effect. I will continue layering it up. In my view the more random the more realistic, particularly at this scale. The pictures will assist onward and upward
  6. I've just used the web I did find a picture of several on display and one was entirely black including the grip which I think would be much easier to paint. The major difficulty with the movie weapon would be getting a convincing finish on a translucent grip. thanks for the tip I'll see what knobs I can find online
  7. This has been inspired by the forthcoming Blade Runner sequel. I found the gun itself on eBay and thought it might have alot of potential particularly when you look at the cost of the replicas available online. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/X3yStz the plan is to clean it up and paint it to look like a standard weapon and not the amber handled version Deckard used - more of a standard service pistol used by officers in general I have drilled out all the Allen headed screws and have some stainless replacements to insert. finding the knurled but for the right side might be a bit more challenging. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/i3Sc5X https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/69b2QM much filling and sanding required
  8. Got some black on to see how it looks ( run out of Matt though ) I will do a bit more sculpting around the armpits and probably work on his gloves a bit .
  9. Received . vote of confidence . I will press on thanks
  10. Fixed his head and started working on the collar and shoulders. Highly likely to fall at the last hurdle as I haven't painted a face recently but airbrushed some tones on to boost morale. Only thing now bothering me is the relationship between his head and the armour in that it could look like he has a very short neck. I think it could be the shoulder armour distorting the proportion . Too late now though as it's well stuck on. I think once the black under suit is painted it'll look OK. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/G15947 https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/Sx282H https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/3SfH2w onwards and upwards JV
  11. https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/StiD3p located a suitable head . A Walking Dead character I think. Has a older look about him which I think would be appropriate for a Stromtrooper Commander. plan is to use milliput to make his collar and then do the same on the shoulders to lose the ball joints and make him look less cyborgish https://www.flickr.com/photos/147621094@N05/shares/cVS4x0
  12. You're right your plain white one looks OK. Weird I'll post a picture when I have the new head . definitely going down the off duty/ post combat type thing . his helmet looks OK as a standalone item - maybe on a tiny stand. I'd been interested to see how it compares to the helmets Bandai sell - I've seen them advertised as 1/5 not 1/6 JV
  13. Provisional head. additional one on route https://www.flickr.com/gp/147621094@N05/RH3kFK
  14. I found a head in my spares box - sadly it has an uncanny likeness for Bruce Willis but does have the required shaved head and looks suitably tired will need a neck made up to blend in to the torso and a paint . Going for a post battle look
  15. Received Bob, I'm more of a Clone fan really so this was a bit of a spontaneous purchase. I'm a bit disappointed but a head change will sort it. I'll find a suitable bald head and report back Back to Bandai's 1/12 clones . Next one will be a Wolfpack 104 Battalion grey and white version Received Bob, I'm more of a Clone fan really so this was a bit of a spontaneous purchase.
