Airfix 1/48 Spitfire early Mk I

Recommended Posts

Here is my Airfix MkI Spitfire finally almost finished. It'll be getting a vac canopy when I get round to it. The Airfix jobby is just too thick and rides a bit high on the runner, and this is one of my pet peeves with spitfires. I Like to build the runner on the starboard side for the canopy, so it must sit correctly. Note the early door lock pull as seen in the final pic. Weathering wes kept to a minimum as the aeroplane was of pre-war vintage. I'll also be replacing the prop with one from Aeroclub when I get around to sending them an order.

The build articles can be found here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...amp;hl=spitfire and here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...amp;hl=spitfire and here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...amp;hl=spitfire

The upper surface colours are Humbrol 116 and Humbrol dark earth, both ligtened a bit. The undersurface is Testors Aluminium with a nadge's wisker of very pale gray added. The interior is painted home brew eau de nile.

As you can see the pix are my usual poor standard.

Nothing wrong with those pics! Nice work, did you use the kit decals?

Thanks Jonathon. The kit decals were used. You can see the dots up real close, but otherwise they are fine.

Dave.

Looks good!

Cheers Osher.

That's excellent, Dave, good pictures too.

Tony :clif:

Thanks Tony,

I'd had it sat around 95% finished for some time.

Dave

Great stuff Dave :speak_cool:

Cheers Ian,

Back to the Lanc now. :)

Dave.
