Old&Perculier Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Here is my kit and tools for this group build.
Old&Perculier Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 Made a start on the 190 painted cockpit and wheel wells a mixture of no's 27 and 64 to give a darkish grey. Only ever had hairy sticks so what you never had you don't miss
Old&Perculier Posted April 4, 2010 Author Posted April 4, 2010 This is the progress at close of play on the first day. totaly out of the spirit of the group build I decided to let the glue set overnight so I could tidy up the joints a little. This kit actually goes togeather very well so a only a little tidying with the file around the join lines the tailplane fitted, time to start the painting. First a mix of 65 and 64 on the undersides. Following advice in another post the well watered down paint built up in several coats went on very well No 78 on the top sides now going to give it an hour or two to dry before ading the dark grey.

Old&Perculier Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Got the painting finished last night I really quite like these acrylics they just need to be approached differently to enamel. With some trepidation started on the decals, somehow I dont remember them being a problem 30 years ago but they seem to cause a lot of trouble now. I seem to have been lucky again they went on with no drama, hope they stay on. Just a bit of final assembly to do this evening when I have finished my homework
Fifer54 Posted April 5, 2010 Posted April 5, 2010 Looks good. I really like your mottle on the fuselage.
Old&Perculier Posted April 5, 2010 Author Posted April 5, 2010 Thanks Mish and Milo it has turned out better than I had hoped though not so good close up. I have now finished it. The trickiest part of this kit is the undercariage I tried it on all ways round this still dosn't look right to me but looks about the best. Glad to see streched sprue was O.K.d for the build I added the W.T arial though having choped the brush to do the mottling I canot paint it. A few drops of no 27 paint in a lot of water made a fairly good wash to represents the exhaust staining Doras seem to be prone to. The canopy was my main mistake it's not a good fit but could have been sorted out if I had prperly dry fitted it at an earlier stage.
