Vulcan B2

Recommended Posts

Here we go again....  This arrived yesterday and I'll be starting this thread with my late night build session from last night.

My third 1/200 Vulcan B2.... Next one I get I hope to convert to a B1... I'll get the other box with the right roundels in there to do it.

Here's what's in the box:

Plus clear parts I forgot to take a picture of.

Because I just built and built and built, I didn't take many pictures until I was quite far in.

Here's a few substitutes from my previous ones that will have to do- the build process was essentially the same up to getting the upper and lower fuselage halves together.

Anyway, back to photos of the actual model I'm building here

Just before putting the major components together, alongside a dryfitted Trumpeter Vulcan in 1/144

But I decided to do something crazy- putting the upper and lower halves together could wait.

Yeah.... Reoositioning the control surfaces on a 1/200 vulcan. Needs a bit of clean up here but should look ok once that's done.

Once both were removed, I got to glueing them back on angled downwards a bit.

And that's where I am up to today. I've started with filler as well and it's getting close to ready for a bit of paint.

Preshade that turned out to be a waste of time as I applied the white too much and none of this showed through.... Oh well, looks like I'm doing a nice clean vulcan

Demasked the canopy early on as leaving masking on too long with Halford's white can cause issues sometimes.

The radome line on the kit is incorrect, similar to the old tool Airfix kit and now the Trumpeter kit.

The red line is kind of like the kit. It leads to quite a different look to the nose.

Bit of paint on the underside.

Probably not going to do much today as I have now got college work to get on with again, being sent out remotely of course. I might do some decals tonight though.

Much too tiny for me to try to build but I have to say your build looks very good. I can't even imagine masking the windows. I struggle sometimes with 1/48 scale.  🙄

Vulcans are easy enough to mask in this scale, I just use a brush and PVA glue to do it. Works pretty well most of the time. The real nightmare one in smaller scales would be the Victor

Getting the blue painted Blue Steel done now, two black lines underneath need adding that there are no decals for.

Following this the gear was attached, gear doors also attached as the model was pretty much finished
