Building up bad moulds?

Hi there guys I'm new to the forum so please be gentle.

I am building my first model in over 10 years. It is a terribly moulded airfix MK1 Escort gift set. I'm building it for my uncle as he used to have one of these not so long ago and has wanted a model for a long time.

But I have come to a part I am not sure how to repair basically its that badly made that there is a part just in front of the wheel arch that is non existent. So obviously I need to add to this with some sort of filler. So what filler should I use?

I now have to build much further than I wanted to before painting the body as I need other parts in place to see where the body line should go. I would most certainly not recommend this kit to anyone and afetr a quick check I can't even find it on the airfix site anymore.

What with this and the fact the paints are crap that come with it I've had enough already lol. Once the body is ready to paint I'm gonna spray it with enamels as I know how to use them better.

Thanks Parabat would you recommend the fine milliput or would regular do?

Well some good news I emailed airfix last night and they are sending a new body moulding out tomorrow so hopefully have it by the end of the week. I'm still going to pick up some milliput for future use though.

Airfix customer service are usually very good if the replacement part has a problem. I once had a set of decals changed twice after the first replacements were as bad as the problem decals.

IF its the area I'm thinking of - where the front grille & valance panel fits the front wings, thats not a problem due to a worn out mould. Its an inherit poor design of the parts right from the very start. No many how many replacement parts you get, they'll have this same poor fit.

As Black Knight commented it is exactly that area. If I still have some plastic weld from my old days of modelling I'm going to try and graft a part on and then shape it to fit. I will need to get along a bit further than I am though so I have a better guide.
