  1. HpH is working on a 1/32nd Grumman F7F Tigercat resin kit. Source: http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=28641&p=801596 V.P.
  2. A very quick (for me) OOB build, and a real mixed bag of a kit: most parts need cleaning, some (props) have some horrible moulding flaws, the canopies do't fit too well and the decals silvered..one the other hand fit is good, surface detail is restrained, some parts are very nicely detailed, and the Tigercat can't help look good! I attempted to do this almost totally out of the box ,so not even seat belts, intended to rely on the finish to get it looking good. I did however replace the aerial posts: even Italeri's box art says there should be two, but they only supplied one moulded in with a fuselage half, and as that broke off & disappeared I figured it wouldn't be to much of a crime to add the second. I didn't add a wire as photos suggest that not all of the Korea birds had one, indeed the variety of aerial/wire combinations suggests there were a few different radio configurations around. No bombs and rockets because tbh I lost patience after the matt varnish and wanted to move on! I am happy with the finish, there is more variation in the black than is apparent in the photos, but the decals did silver a bit more than I hoped, taking the shine off the whole a bit - they are probably twenty years old so it's understandable! (the barrel & box is supplied in the kit for the purposes of keeping the tail off the ground, mainly necessary because I forgot to weight the nose! Still, couldn't be bothered to paint it...)
  3. Ladies/Gents, just looking at some clarification of interior colours on wheel wells, etc. Pictures online seem to have all sorts!
  4. Hi chaps just thought I'd share a couple of Vacuform kits that my Dad finished recently, both are 1/32 scale and I really admire how they turned out. Won't find me trying one anytime soon though!
  5. Hi, Besides Bearcat another superb Grumman fighter - the Tigercat, F7F, did not saw combat use in WWII. However, it was alredy in use in some units before VJ-day. My model is converted from Monogram single seater later variant F7F3. The markings are from VMF(N) 531, MCAS Eagle, Mt. Lake, Texas, 1945. Original photo of her is available in Net: http://wpalette.com/en/pictures/56271 The build is also (like my F8F) from 1996. I bought the kit during my first visit to US in Feb. 1996, together with a short-run (Beachnut) NA P51H...(that one is still to be posted) Comments welcome Regards Jerzy-Wojtek
  6. With; Quick Boost - Undercarriage Covers & Gun Barrels SAC – Undercarriage (which I lost part of then found it a year later, I didn’t end up fitting them) UltraCast – Props (kit ones are backwards!!) This was a build for the Splendid Cats GB, but with big changes in my work shift roster meant it wouldn’t get completed in time. So she sat near the box of doom until I was reminded about her by an interested member, so I figured I’d try to complete her. The big challenge for me was not to damage or change her finish by clear coats, the finish you see is weathering of the base black colour. I eventually found/tried some paint masks which I haven’t used before. So the only decals used are the identity numbers/letters and warning markings. In the end I fell in love with her again and am really glad I finally finished her….even if she’s a bit late for the GB! Now I just need to finish the Ta-154 to go with her! Here is the link to the build – build link Please enjoy
  7. Ok here we go with another GB. Was a bit hard to choose what to build for this one, but after much thought I decided to go with a common theme that I like Nightfighters. And seeing that all my nightfighters so far are twin engine the Tigercat seemed the logical choice. So I’ll be building Italeri 1/48th F-7F 3N Tigercat, this will almost be straight out of the box but …………. will be adding Quick Boost Undercarriage Cover and Gun Barrels sets, and Scale Aircraft Conversions Landing Gear set. I have always liked the look of this aircraft but had just not gotten around to building one, so here we go, this should be fun….and hopefully a simple build. Not too sure what the colour scheme will be, have a bit of time to think about it. First post of the group!
  8. I will be building a 1/48 AMT/ERTL F-7F 3N Tigercat. Pictures will follow later. Cheers,
  9. Hello! Long time reader, but very rarely do I post anything, especially in RFI Anyway, here is the Italeri/Esci F7F-3N in all her glory: Thanks for looking! //Christer
