  2. Freightdog Models is to release a 1/72nd resin kit from the reusable launch system concept that was explored by the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC) during the mid-1960s, aka the Multi-Unit Space Transport And Recovery Device or BAC MUSTARD. 3. Lightning F.2A Detail Set (491092 for Airfix) 1:48 Eduard Airfix’s much-loved kit has been released more than a few times over the years, the most recently being a few years back under the current management, and even as a large starter set, allowing the prices on eBay to drop back to more reasonable levels. This set is a general upgrade to the airframe, including the cockpit and exterior, plus wheel bays. Two frets are included, one nickel plated and pre-painted, the other in bare brass. A complete set of new layered instrument panels and side consoles are the primary parts on the painted set, with new rudder pedals; ejection seat details; coaming instrumentation and canopy internal structure also supplied. The nose gear bay receives additional parts; the main gear bays get a full roof skin that fits to the walls moulded into the lower wing; the main wheels are given new scissor-links and brake hoses, with multiple small parts dotted around the periphery of the bays. The nose wheel strut is linked to the aft bay door by two struts, and the other bay door is fitted out with hinges and a retraction arm to finish off. Review sample courtesy of
  4. S&M is to release a 1/144th BAC MUSTARD-15 (Multi-Unit Space Transport and Recovery Device) resin kit - ref. Source: Source: http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,2260.15.html?PHPSESSID=m4nchtarjij8n6oecvmej52b31 V.P.
  5. The BAC 167 was a further development of the original Hunting Percival Jet Provost. This was essentially an armed version of the JP Mk.5. Pictures of G-SOAF a Mk.82A ex the Sultan Of Omans Air Force. This aircraft was the last Strikemaster built as an attrition replacement. It was actually assembled from an unfinished air frame, and parts destined for Sudan but never completed due to an arms embargo. It is now owned and operated by North Wales Military Aviation Services. Pics thanks to Tim Mansfield (theplasticsurgeon).
  6. BAC Tracked Rapier. This is the BAC Rapier system fitted to a modified M548 chassis. Pics mine from Cosford. https://www.britmodeller.com/walkarounds/armour/trackrap/t06.jpg
  7. Started to play around with the Canberra this week, so I guess that means its started! Got some goodies, not included in the photo below are some seats kindly donated by John (Canberra Kid) that I need to dig out of the aftermarket box too. I've already chopped the nose off the Airfix kit and dry fitted the Aeroclub nose conversion, so far so good. I'd planned to build as WH640 in PR blue, MSG and DG with stripes, but fancy doing a silver scheme too that shows off the graceful lines of the Canberra better. I'll reserve the decision for now, but open to thoughts and suggestions. Here's the resin flaps, u/c bays and B.2 main wheels, some nice resin to bling the build up a bit Cheers Neil
  8. Having been brought up near Filton airfield, I have set myself the task of building as many aircraft associated with Filton over the years, to a greater or lesser extent. This will be done in 1/144 due to limited storage space. I have started with VC10 RB211 testbed G-AXLR, VFW614 D-BABC and DC-3 G-AMPO. If anyone has photos/slides ets of aircraft at Filton and would be willing to share tham with me, please let me know.
  9. I just received this today. It was really cheap off eBay and I may end up just keeping it as a neat piece of history (I didn't buy it myself in Russia, but I have lived in Russia in the past). It's a 1/72 EE Lightning F.6 ... but it's a Soviet kit. I say Soviet instead of Russian because the price of "1 Ruble 50 Kopeks" tells me this was from the 1980s. There is no English anywhere on the box or the instructions. I can read and understand a bit of Russian, but nothing stuck out as a brand name. There is, however, a logo in the corner. It's actually not a bad kit. Good deal of flash, raised panel lines, visibly rough machining of the molds visible on some plastic parts, but it doesn't look terrible (I'm looking at you, Academy, and your "MiG-21" kit!). No internal detail to speak of and the decals are shot (the tissue has stuck to the decal film somewhat but they could probably be salvaged with Micro Scale or varnish or something), but it looks alright overall. Haven't decided whether or not I'm going to try to build it yet. Any help is greatly appreciated!
  10. I would like to share that I am looking for project backers for my crowd funding metal display model projects as listed below, which have been posted on the new AeroBackers aviation crowd funding website. Please click on the links to view project details and the project video: 1/72 Austrian Airlines Viscount 800 cast aluminum http://www.aerobackers.com/campaigns/172-vickers-viscount-800-austrian-airlines-cast-aluminum-model/ 1/72 American Airlines BAC One Eleven cast aluminum http://www.aerobackers.com/campaigns/172-bac-one-eleven-american-airlines-cast-aluminum-model-2/ 1/72 Western Airlines L-188 Electra cast aluminum http://www.aerobackers.com/campaigns/172-lockheed-l-188-electra-western-airlines-cast-aluminum-model/ These projects require 10 backers to put each into production, and the projects are open for 10 days until AUG 24, 2014. I would be happy to answer any questions, and hope I can find sufficient backers as these models are fabulously accurate and deserve to be made!

  12. Hello, I've been looking at the available decal sheets for Concorde and the F-DCAL sheet for the UK prototype caught my eye. Apart from the smaller visor windows on the first two prototypes, are there any other notable difference between these aircraft the production ones? Many thanks! Andrew
