  1. A while ago I got a gluebomb Stap & Battle Droid for not too much from the bay. I've used up most of the Stap in a previous build on here. Now to use up the Droid. The recipe goes like this, Take one old 1/48th Skyraider and a 1/32nd Puma tail boom. Both first built in the '80's. Strip down the Skyraider to the fuselage and sand both until fairly free of old Humbrol. Add imagination (1ltr). Here's the Droid. I unglued the arms but the knees won't move yet. This is a chunk of the Stap. It's Star Wars architecture so that's a good thing. But it needed a little something... Where the Tank Idler wheel sits was just a boring bump. This makes it more mechanical. (a touch of kreiger?) And now you can see where it goes. And the basic concept of this thing. That's a length of 20mm conduit that adds strength & holds the two pieces together. And now what it's all about. Think Cafe' racer motorbike. This is just a basic mock up obviously. The Droids hands will go onto the Skyraider taiplanes. It's going to be posed in flight so he'll need a saddle. Feet will go into stirrups. There will be landing gear too. No obvious control panel. He'll be wirelessly connected. I hope this raises a smidgen of interest here. Please let me know what you think. Cheers, Pete
  2. Heroes and Villains. Here’s my 1/12 scratchbuilt WW1 trench scene; “Heroes and Villains”. I decided to have a crack at sculpting figures using Fimo polymer clay. It was a real learning experience and great fun. They’re far from perfect, but being my first attempt at this sort of thing, I’m really pleased with how they’ve come out. When I started, I didn’t think I’d be able to get anywhere near as good as they’ve ended up. Sculpting is really intense and challenging, but with a bit of practice, not as difficult as I thought it would be. Next time I’ll hopefully improve my figures’ heads (necks are a particular challenge for me) and the painting – I’m no figure painter! I wanted to show a dynamic scene that raises questions about our interpretation of who is a hero and who is a villain in war. WIP is here…. Thanks for looking!
  3. My first motorbike build, a birthday present from my eldest son a long time ago. I couldn’t emulate the pristine builds which grace these pages so went for a ‘used and abused’ look, a bike in much need of some TLC! The Honda VT250F, introduced in 1982, was one of the first Japanese bikes to sport a full fairing (after a change in Japanese law). Powered by a two cylinder 90º V-twin, four-stroke water-cooled engine derived from the Honda NR500 GP racer. Brakes were a single, inboard, ventilated disc on the front wheel and a drum unit on the rear. Thanks for stopping by. Stay well, stay safe. Mike
  4. Hello, everyone ... a quick shout out to anyone that was following the original thread to my 806 build, ... well, it's done - well as done as it's ever going to be. There is a myriad of details that could be fettled with, and yes lots of prototypicality issues. But this was only ever an exercise in building the Italeri kit, and in my case using it as a means of illustrating an amusing backstory that I'd concocted. Apologies are perhaps in order because the photo's I include are literally just drive by shots taken to let my head know that it's all done, finished and I can guilt free move on to something else - it's been twenty months in the making and I'm pretty burnt out with it now - so enough with the chit chat ........ here's the pic's ............................................... The pic's aren't the best, are they? - However, if anyone would like to see anything in particular (just noticed there's none of the other side - do'h) ... shout out - I'll see what I can do? It only remains for me to Thank all those that encouraged and supported me through the builds darkest hours - the PB crash etc. So, heartfelt thanks one and all, here's hoping for success in your own individual endeavours ... Cheers!
  5. I built this kit as best I could to resemble Hakan Andersson’s 1973 works bike; the ‘twin shock’ version he rode in the first two rounds before the monoshock version replaced it. My web page: Revell 1/12th scale 250cc Yamaha MX bike Example photo: It contains several inaccuracies including the front brake mechanism being backwards.
  6. Hello Everyone, I recently bought couple of kits that are missing their instructions and I was hoping someone might be able to help me. If anyone has a 1/8th Monogram 1978 Corvette or the Otaki/Doyusha 1/12th Pontiac Firebird Trans am, could you scan me a copy of the instructions please? The kits I have are pictured below, but the instructions for any later edition would be fine. Thanks for looking, Stuart
