  1. Great job Nobby, your post will be useful also for the new Airfix! Ezio
  2. Thank you Dave! I've a lot of pictures from several books that I can use to improve the cockpit. The important thing is that the starting base is well done. Two years ago I saw at the Malta Air museum the wreck of a swordfish to be restored. Here's the link Malta Swordfish Ezio
  3. I've ordered 2 ones fro Hannants as I received their alert message about the availability and I'm waiting anxiously for them. I hope thet Santa makes his job well. I've just one question for the lucky British fiends that have been able to buy locally. How is the cokpit detail? In this kind of plane tehre's a lot of visible place for the curious eyes ..... For the first one no doubt, the Taranto version as a tribute to the gallant pilots that entered our greatest navy site on that far night. Ezio
  4. very stunning the view of the complete Hurricane compared to the kit fuselage. I confirm, great work, I follow you Ezio
  5. Very nice! As previously said it's a pity for the figure base..... but just a razor blade cut and ..... It's the first time I see a snowy Hurricane Ezio
  6. Thank you for the complete comparison Silver Fox, I add also to the bunch the old Classic Airframes that some where on ebay or simila can still be found. I have the kit of the fabric wing version and it's very good with a lot of resin parts and a complete cockpit. Ezio
  7. Thank you for the review and the wip Silver Fox. I was waiting for this kit and I think this week end I'll go to my favourite model shop to complete the mission. From the snapshots it seems that the interiors and the cockpit are well detailed. I cannot see anything about the landing gear zone. How is the situation there? Ezio
  8. Thank you Jon and don't worry because I'ma still in the research phase, reading and collecting documents and images. In the meanwhile I have some planes on the work table waiting to be completed to be submitted to the forum Have a nice day Ezio
  9. Thank you Andrew and thank you Jon! This is the diorama I'd like to do. I found it in the web during my research on the topic. It's a detail of the painting of Elizabeth Butler Balaklava. This is the complete painting. I think I'll try to riproduce the trooper walking with the lancers on the horse in 28 mm and then face the hard work in 54 mmm. This of course between the beloved planes. Ezio
  10. Yesterday was the 25th October, the day of the charge of the Light Brigade at Balaclava in 1854. I had a look at my books and pictures but I didn't find a detailed view of the 11th Hussars sabretache. It seems they charged in full dress so I suppose it was not covered with the usual waxed black bag (which is the English word?) Does anyone can help me? Ezio
  11. Great news! I'm waiting anxiously the Swordfish.... Thank you Rob for the updating Ezio
  12. Nice job! It will be very useful to follow this endeavour.... Ezio
  13. Satuday I had a look at my old kit and I confirm it's not so terrible. Anyone knows if there are decals sheets with military subjects? I had a look at Hannants and Aviation megastore but I found only civilian companies decals. Ezio
  14. You're right, I also tried one sweet kit finding it very amusing. Now it urges a consideration. When I started my modeler career there where only 3 or 4 1/24 Airfix kits and some Revell 1/32 subjects. In the modelling magazines there was always the explanation that the European houses were not so large for the large scale kits. Today Trumpeter has broken the wall adding more and more titles in 1/32 and even 1/24. The houses are stille the main. What happened? And now I close my digression already out of topic. Ezio
  15. I think the problem is wether you prefer the 1/72 scale Ezio
  16. I've a William Bros kit and a older vacuum formed kit of unknown brand. I like very much the Curtiss Commando that seems more a comics plane than a real one. The kit is not too much bad but anyway it's the only one I can remeber so .... Howevere the real problem is that we're no more used to the old style kit because nowadays there are a lot of offers from the new moulds or the aftermarket. As pure entertainment sometimes I take an old kit from my personal warehouse and I try to improve it. It's more amusing that purchasing the PERFECT kit too much rich and long to complete. My personal recipe is to change always undercarriage propellers and canopy, engines if really necessary and quite visible. The most important thing is that the dimensions are quite correct and the general impression the same. As a little contribution here's a Curtiss C-46 review
  17. First of all thank yoy everybody for your help. Then I have some questions for Graham in detail. propellor: I presume you mean the different versions with De Havilland or Rotol propeller windscreen: it's a version with armoured glass? (sorry for the bad English) canopy: I suppose you mean the prototype version aerial mast: here I cannot trace a difference add/remove the outer gun anti-flash muzzles: for the version with the wing gun that is with the wing type B ( Mk.Ib) add/remove seat armour: here I cannot trace a difference Ezio
  18. Dear friends, I've just bought two Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk Ia (new mould) with the idea of building a Mk I and a Mk II using also the 3d-kits set. I've searched the differences between the Mk I and the Mk Ia without finding too much informations. Anyone can help me? Ezio p.s. I'm really happy to find that Airfix gives us again these good products. I've started my modeller life with Airfix and I never forgot my first love.
  19. I follow your work with great attention Richard but there is something still unclear. At the end of your job this masterpiece will be sealed into the Trumpeter body? Ezio
  20. Thank you WIP I've already done but I've thought to a sw problem because I found as out of stock without the availability e-mail alert. Ezio
  21. I've just ahd a look at Airfix website and there was written that it's out of stock. I've checke many times on Hannnt's and I've never seen that was available. Where's the bug? Airfix swordfish
