  1. Hey Paul! Just putting on a flat coat now (11.25pm) so should be ok for deadline. Great to hear you made it too! Will take some pics tonight/tomorrow. Can't believe I finished on time. Best wishes, Dermot
  2. Wiking of Germany also make Rosenbauer diecast crash tenders in 1/43 and 1/87 scale. I guess the 1/87 might be a touch too small for 1/72 but they're nicely finished and available in a variety of airport schemes. Cheers, Dermot
  3. Good work Paul and no bother to you to be finished in time. Like the Mk1 bomb lifting gear there too! All the best, Dermot
  4. Thanks Paul. Yes, canopy got a couple of dips in Future (and it's the kit one too). See you at the finish! Best wishes, Dermot
  5. Good stuff Paul and looking forward to more updates. Cheers, Dermot
  6. Quick update - while I wait for the lovely bath of water and decal solution to hopefully work their magic on my numptied-decals, here's some photos of my build. Apologies in advance for the crappy camera quality. My first attempt at paint chipping on a kit....I think in my rush to get finished on time, I may have fallen into the trap of not-knowing-when-to-stop-and-overdoing-it-with-the-weathering-feck.. I asked my lovely other half what she thought and she said "That's been through the wars!" The exhaust stains on the fin aren't that convincing now that I look at them - airbrush would be better. Just a flat coat and all the stores/doors to put on. And also an attempt at some friendly bomb messages. Mmmm.....quite worried about the RFI part now. Thanks for looking and enjoy your modelling. Dermot
  7. Right click, save. Martin, this is a great build and makes me want to buy an F3 and start it tomorrow! And weathering is spot on too as Steve says. Speaking of which, I fear mine may be over done Great job fella.
  8. I second that....top job Phil! The base is cool too. Cheers, Dermot
  9. Thanks - will give Dahran Annie a bath so tonight
  10. Decal update - day 2 Have tried a few attempts last night but the decal refuses to budge - still welded to the tape. I read somewhere about nail polish remover for removing decals? I'm guessing it will attack the decal like crazy but it's all I can think of now...any thoughts? Many thanks, Dermot
  11. Thanks Steve but to be honest, my 1/72 build won't be in the races when compared with HillStar's, Phil and Paul's so I think I can rule myself out of any prizes. She won't be "pink" enough, the finish isn't good enough (but getting better) and am still trying to rescue a decal disaster. Besides, I've enjoyed my first ever GB here and am really looking forward to my next one which involves some American swing-wing naval fighter that's apparently popular among modellers.....Yeah baby Cheers, Dermot
  12. Classic! Thanks for all your suggestions on the unholy marriage of decals and masking tape - will update later this evening! Cheers, Dermot
  13. Many thanks Phil and will give that a shot later. If it doesn't work, lesson learned I guess.. Yep, decals got a coat of Future on top to protect them from the oil wash. Dermot
  14. Morning everyone, Anyone got miracle cures for rescuing decals? After decaling my Tornado and protecting them with a coat of Future, I applied an oil wash - so far, no problem and everything dried ok. But when I then used a thin strip of Blue 3M masking tape to hold the canopy in place while it was gluing, you can guess the rest - no more decals. So right now, the beautiful nose art is on the sticky side of the tape in one piece; is there anyway of removing it? Could I soak it or is it now toast? :shithappens: Any advice would be hugely welcomed.. Thanks in advance, Dermot
  15. Steve, Phil thanks for the advice and update pics will be posted tomorrow! Cheers, Dermot
  16. Thud........jaw hits floor. Wowsers Andy, that's some decal job!
  17. Love that scheme Phil, great work
  18. Very black, very shiny, very cool Phil!
  19. Nice progress there Paul! PM inbound too! Cheers, Dermot
  20. Hi everyone and really inspiring work around these parts - it keeps me motivated! Here's a quick update (and question) on this build. Have tidied up the nose and glare panel and painted some other small parts like the wing gloves and ordinance. Must be the light or my crappy camera but she doesn't look as sandy today. Anyway, my question is (and sorry for being a numpty) are my next steps in this order? Future Wash Decals Weathering Matt coat Thanks for looking and big thanks in advance. Dermot
  21. Brush painting Tamiya acrylics - BIG respect Seve and excellent results. Look forward to more pics. Dermot
  22. Just a brief update before a week off with the family.. Quick coat of Halfords plastic primer (works nice) Unfortunately I'm still beholden to the hairy sticks so this is brush painted with Revell's Desert Sand. Hmmmmmm.....The photo/light isn't great on it and to me it looks a little too sandy as opposed to Desert Pink on some of those Gulf builds here. Nose radome and anti glare panel will be tidied up. Thoughts anyone? I couldn't be arsed stripping it back at this stage as I'll never make the deadline and I'm just hoping that washes, decals and weathering will tone it back a bit. Or am I fooling myself? Enjoy your modelling and maybe the week off will improve my mood! As always, thanks for reading. Dermot
  23. All those lovely 'Cats in 5 months......if there is a religion of the Tomcat build, surely Andy Mullen is GOD!!!
