  1. From what I've done, no, not really. The bubble windows used the domes sanded flush, then glued to flat panes of 'glass', then drilled from behind. The fit between the Revell radar & the Airfix spine wasn't the best, but was fixable.
  2. Hopefully Bandai will release the "partisan" X-wing: http://deeplyobsessed.blogspot.com.au/2016/09/rogue-one-partisan-x-wing.html?m=1
  3. Nice RAAF pic: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v520/gregoryknowles2001/9859C766-C383-4A7A-B173-0EDE2A4AB8F7_zpsyznpnlmd.jpg[/IMG
  4. The first RAAF example has been delivered.
  5. Some expressed concerns over the fidelity of the colours used, specifically the tan (FS30219 out of the tin). I used the early morning light that better captures what it looks like IRL: /URL]
  6. Cheers, Ray. Was good to catch up. I always enjoy checking your work out - it never disappoints. Cheers, Kev. I like to be a little different.
  7. Thanks, Richard. It's been fun. I appreciate you commenting.
  8. You're right - thankfully it's not as stark IRL.
  9. Well, after some time in the US, Japan, & Indonesia for work, minor progress has been made on 31. Thought I'd add a splash of colour to see what things look like. Neither the camouflage pattern nor the colours are 100%, but they are good for project morale. Comments welcome.
  10. Wonder whether the P-8A can carry smart gravity munitions? The Kiwi P-3K drop dumb Mk82....
  11. Random one: can P-8s carry LGB or JDAM?
  12. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/10/03/sabotage-speculation-gathers-around-spacex-explosion.html interesting.
  13. With some photoshop, that could be mistaken for a construction photograph at Blackburn... An elegant classic!
  14. As expected, adding the turret vision blocks that I'd cut earlier from a CD case to pre-cut holes in the turret sides set at a 60 degree angle wasn't fun, nor tidy. Now that they're basically fitted, the turret structure is sealed, ready for a mold to be taken. Still need to detail the sealant, weld runs, & vision block bolts, but it's definitely on the downhill. Primer, then in the mail to get a resin copy for a future build. Mantlet rework to follow.
  15. Or the offspring from a long-term, monogamous relationship? Vote 1 for traditional values! 🙃
  16. The CAD guy (thanks Matt) really took advantage of the great references I was able to collect to refine the CAD: I've done more work on the driver's hatch cover and refined the tone of the FS30129 tan. Adding 'flesh' toned paint has certainly improved the look: Only some minor fittings to go & the roof can be set aside to concentrate on the hull.
  17. Got some paint on, to check what it looks like: And had the opportunity to collect some more references thanks to work:
  18. Alex, check out the use of CBU & ICM in the Ukraine. Any system that can eviscerate two mechanised battalions in under five minutes still has a place. A SDB/GBU/LGB/PGM isn't as effective.
  19. I'd hope so. Now that fusing has become more reliable, there's really no reason not to field (& employ) new ones.
  20. Made a start on the driver's hatch. By the time I inherited 'my' car, a series of stolen APC rampage incidents (http://m.imgur.com/gallery/11iTk69) had led to a 'spider' lock being installed in place of the hatch-mounted driver's night viewer. I'll add the lock cover, hasp, & hold open next. Almost all of the hull roof fittings are now complete & fitted. The 'cut' edge of the driver's hatch can be seen here. Still need to finish the hinges. Away for the next week, so things will slow down.
  21. Some more progress today. AMU brush guards on Australian M113A1 were a bit beefier than the standard, using flat stock section twisted, then bent into shape, before being welded in position. The results were somewhat agricultural - thankfully. As such, I rate my efforts as broadly representative. More tomorrow - may even finish the roof!
  22. Received some updated parts from Christian today. Managed to scale some aspects from the real vehicle: the kit has been updated accordingly. The biggest change has been the shift in the combat door on the ramp (you can see the different relative positions - old school one on top): And fit checked (the 3D printed mud guards are also visible): Squared off the corners of the roof of the hull. The surface underpinning the lifting points extend to the very edges. And - the idlers have arrived!
